Hello Everyone,
I've posted in other places but was suggested i post here. My husband is facing a federal charge of conspiracy to possess and distribute meth. He is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals awaiting trial along with ten others on the indictment. I don't understand this whole charge or what is going to happen. His attorney, who is court appointed, hasn't seen him but 3 times and doesn't return calls or anything. I've gone down to her office but she is never there or if i manage to catch her, she doesn't have really anything to say. It's really frustrating and i don't know what else to do. There are so many different sentences he could get. From what i gather it depends on what amount he gets convicted of or something. It ranges from 5 grams to 500 grams. And the punishment gets worse too. I was told 5 to ten years, 20 to 40 years, and 40 to life. He was caught on video and audio during a sting, but no drugs or money were exchanged and he did have a little on him. He has been in the jail for six months and wasn't allowed out on bond. One of the officers that arrested him said he believed he would just get out and sell again. The pretrial conference is scheduled for May 26th but with so many on the indictment, there is bound to be another continuance. Anyone been here before? What is going to happen? What do i do? Where do i go for answers? I am so confused about all of this. Please help. Thank you.

Welcome to PTO. I'm also from Texas. I previously reply to your other post, but will say the Conspiracy is a "catch all" charge. The length of sentence can depend on numerous things. Feel free to pm me. And hang in there.

WELCOME TO PTO! Yes I've been in your very same shoes. It took the state 15 months to sentence everyone in my Husbands case, by the time it was all said and done. Hang in there. If you need to talk feel free to PM me.
