My husband is in prison in Alabama and was granted parole on March 29th pending acceptance from Georgia. I'm a resident of georgia and he has both a home and job plan.
The alabama interstate compact dept. has sent his paperwork to Ga for acceptance last week. Does anyone know how long it takes for Ga to accept an out of state parolee? or what the process is?
I e-mailed the interstate compact office in Ga, and they told me that their requirements are for him to have a relative in Ga and a means of getting a job. they said that the process would depend on how long it takes the sending state to get the paperwork to Ga. of course this all get's sent by snail mail! lol

There's not much specific information on available on the web regarding the process of the Interstate Compact, I would know because we plan on utilizing this for my fiance' to come back home to WI. I compiled records of the utilities in his name here at home, a letter from his boss at his place of employment before he had to go back to GA to serve his time, and letters from myself and our neighbors showing he will have support here as well as his family.
If you go to the sticky about Georgia Contact Information, you can get the Parole Board office # and I have called there and asked to speak to someone regarding questions about the IC before, so you may want to try that. They are usually as helpful as they can be, but I'm just warning ya, don't get your hopes up on them having some set period of time or exact process to tell you about, because knowing GA and how slow they are with everything else, who knows how long it might take. My fiance' heard from another inmate at the prison he is now at that the IC backlog for inmates to LEAVE GA and go to another state is 3-6 months after their parole is granted! YOWZER!!! We will see. I hope to get more concrete answeres after we go up for parole review next month!
Good luck! :)
