Hi everyone, My son is at SRCI in Ontario. I just got back from my first visit with him there. It went ok, but it's sure hard to leave, when you don't know how long it will be before you can return. I live near Eugene, so it's a long trip.

Welcome to PTO, you will find a lot of support and friends here.
I was born and raised in Portland, but am in Washington State now.

It is hard to say goodbye to them.
Again Welcome
Softie

Welcome to PTO!

Yes, it is hard to leave them when the visit ends. It is something that I regret to say that you become sort of numb to. I live 14 hours drive from my Partner so my visits are not regular. Leaving when you know it may be months before you are back is tough but you get through it.

All the people here are supportive and you will find a lot of comfort knowing that you can log into PTO and vent when you are angry, share when you are happy, or just read what and help others through their days...

Thanks everyone, for the nice welcome. I'm glad I found this forum with such caring people. Right now I'm pretty emotional, but I know I'll get stronger, especially with the support you all offer. My son will be in for 11 years, so I must learn to deal with that.

Hi Kristin, it's good to hear fromyou. Sorry your loved one is in prison. There are alot of rules to learn about at SRCI. Not more than anywhere else, I suppose. Iv'e read all the rules and regulations on the website, Iv'e called them probably a dozen times with questions, but a new question always pops into my mind, one I haven't asked before LOL.

Hi again Beachbum (love that name :D )
Huh - I know what you mean!! About all those questions. I do believe SCRI is worse than most... Especially their mail regulation And thats really all I've got since I live so fare away.. I have never had problems with mails before SCRI now I get mail violations all the time.....
Anyway - I will go to SCRI this January if I get approved that is. huh I look forward for that SOO much :D

Hope to chat with you some day

Hi, It's nice to hear from you all. I haven't posted because I've been out of town for a few days. Hope everyone had a fun Halloween. I was hoping to visit my son on Christmas, (this will be his first Christmas inside) but it doesn't fall on a visitation day. I will try to visit during that week, tho. I hope the weather isn't terrible by then, as I have a couple mountain passes to go over. Hope everyone has a good night.

An idea from Anarchist Black Cross here in Portland is to car/van pool to local prisons. Y'aall should be trading dates, times and resources among those on this list.
