Well he got ISCI today and only 39 yrs to go!! He says he has his own cell, with a key to the door??? That sounds weird to me??Does anyone know how it might be there for him. He said he signed up to work in the kitchen (only job available) Im glad he wants to work but guess they just pay them pennies an hour right??? How many hours a day do they work? Im going to send him $$ so he can get a TV and a watch. Do you all think this is a good idea??? Please help me get thru this.

It is true that they dont pay inmates much money, but it gives them something to keep them busy. I think that a TV would be a great idea. I cant be sure, but I think they can also purchase a radio. You can have books and magazines sent to him as well. You can order many magazines online. Most of the book stores will ship to the prisons and they dont charge much to do that.

We will be here for you and help you get through this. I know that right now your heart is breaking, but we will support you in any way we can. Thats what PTO is all about.

PS...Are you here in Boise? I think that as soon as you are able to see him that will help you

I also thought it was weird when my friend told me that his unit has wooden doors and they have their own keys. It doesn't sound so much as what you'd expect but it was nice to know they are given some responsibilities and small "freedoms" while they do their time. My friend describes it as "not lock-up but not freedom". As far as tv I think that's a great idea and my friend has said he has a radio so they have that option as well..hope that helps.
