Need some help here. We are trying to devise a plan for my Partners parole.
He is in Missouri but will do his parole in Michigan.
My questions are:
Is parole the same from state to state?
Does parole carry the same restrictions regardless of the crime?
How do I find out the parole restrictions and parole plans for the state of Michigan?

Hi! I don't know a whole lot about parole yet, but I do know that in Michigan, each parolee gets an individualized set of rules. In general, no alcohol/drugs in the house, no weapons, must find a job, etc. In addition, some might have to do regular drops, or might be not allowed to live with children, or other various restrictions, depending on what the offense was.
Parole is generally for two years in Michigan. If you want to get a feel for what the rules usually are, you can do an offender search for a common last name; under Offender Status, limit your search to parolees. When the list comes up, you can see the crime codes for all the parolees. Pull up some of the parolees who have a similar crime code to your partner's--or pull them up randomly til you figure out which code # matches the offense. The page will show the name of the offense and all the parole rules for that person. I know, hit and miss is not the most professional way to do research, but hey, at least you get some idea of what to expect. :)
Here's the web site for doing the offender search: http://www.state.mi.us/mdoc/asp/otis2.html
Take care.

Thanks, I will check out both sites above... This whole thing gets so confusing some times and I am so 'planned' in everything that I venture into that I just NEED TO KNOW! I am sure that there are others out there like me... This is very much to do with my career as I am a Project Manager and my whole existance is planning and executing large project plans!

I'm exactly like that too! I have to investigate everything way beyond the point normal people would be bored to tears...but I feel like I need to know every single detail, and preferably as far in advance as possible. I drove my boyfriend nuts with all the research I did before he went in, or that I do whenever he shares a rumor. And I can't blame my career, I'm just weird that way by nature. :)
parole rules are bacisally the same every where. such as what carisa said
Parole is basically the same for everyone. I work with a few guys that are recently paroled. One of the guys was in for something like 9 DUI's. Part of his parole is he is not allowed to drive (obviously), can't go to a bar, has a "curfew", etc. What's completely ridiculous is that my boyfriend recently got his parole papers, and he is not allowed a drivers license. Well, his offense had nothing to do with driving. By not allowing him a drivers license means that he can not drive himself to work, which in turn means that he has to rely on other people, or take a cab. (to and from work everyday is a TON of money) So, I don't think that parole guidelines differ too much from one person to another. I wish they did!

I guess that one thing that is important here is that my Partner will be coming out of a Missouri prison and doing parole in Michigan.
Would the parole restrictions be placed by Michigan standards or Missouri standards?
