How serious of a medical condition does someone have to be diagnosed with to be transferred to a Federal Medical Center? Simple things like high blood pressure that needs treated or more complex illnesses?

An undiagnosed condition, an unstable medical condition, an acute or uncontrollable illness, surgery, cancer, etc. Not something that we would ever want. FMCs are not places that you would want to be designated if there is an alternative. Routine medical care is available in virtually every facility.

My husband is in FMC Ft. Worth. He's in a wheelchair. There are men there who have bad hearts, cancer, physically handicapped, elderly men, men that are dying whether it be from cancer, aids or hepatitis. As far as the prison goes, it's not a bad place. The hospital part, we don't know. He's not been to the hospital, but we've heard you don't want to go there if at all possible.
