My brother told us that he would be going up for parole on May 6 but he wasn't sure what time we needed to be there for it so my husband called and talked to a woman at Tucker Unit about it. She told him that my brother is not going up for his hearing on that date, that on May 6 he will be going before the board for a screening and that sometime in June his jacket will go up before the board, that he won't. Does anyone know if we can go to the screening on May 6 with to speak on his behalf? Or can we go when his jacket goes up before the board. I have already sent them a letter and will be sending a copy of it to my brother to take with him, but we were wanting to be there in person to speak with them and give him support. TIA

call and check with the IPO (institutional parole officer) and confirm this, but May 6th is most likely just a meeting between the IPO and the inmates who are going up for parole. She/he will tell them what to expect at the parole hearing. There will not be any parole board members there, and you won't be able to attend.

DO write letters. Make two copies. Mail him 2 of them and keep one. He needs to give one set of copies to the IPO for his "jacket" and (in case they don't get there) he needs to have a set to hand them when/if he meets with the board.

Hope that helps!!
