View Full Version : can anyone tell me how the visits are at FCI Fort Dix???
vella040474 04-18-2004, 05:18 PM Hello Everyone. My fiance is being transferred to FCI Frt Dix and I would like to know how the CO's are. Are they easy going about the visits or are they uptight (strict)? What can you get away with Kissing ,holding hands, etc.???
thanks.
Lysbeth 04-18-2004, 06:41 PM Hi,
Since you had some specific visitation questions for a Federal prison, I have moved this thread to the Federal forum on PTO so your post will have the opportunity to get more specific responses and the best answers to your questions, and won’t get lost in the busy visitation forum... we’ve found they often get more and better answers there, AND the information will be here to help others in the future, too. :)
You also might want to thumb thru the Federal forum to see if some of your questions have already been answered in the past... the direct link to the forum is here:

Hope you find the info you're looking for and good luck! :)

vella040474 04-28-2004, 10:55 AM Thank you I hope I will get Info I need.
kintml2u 04-28-2004, 06:22 PM Found this lengthy thread for you! It also references another sight where you might find some interesting reads.
Hopefully...this will be helpful.
General rule...a brief kiss & hug are allowed at start and end of each visit. Not sure the rule on holding hands, but we never had a problem with it.
Be full warned...be careful if you have thoughts about breaking the rules as this could affect your visiting statis. Sure.,....things happen, things go on. But how much do visits mean, and how much are they cherished? Think about that....before testing how "strict" they are! Not saying....you had thoughts!
Under the circumstances, I found the visiting experience in federal prison to be much nicer then in the state system. We were able to sit next to each other with glass or a table between us. We also were able to sit outside on picnic tables. This is not specific to Fort Dix....but most have these available. Cards, games and toys for children were also available. Not huge choices, but it's a plus. Vending machines are also available but the prisoners are not allowed to touch the money....visitors must get everything.
Hope this helps some!
Diane
vella040474 04-28-2004, 09:37 PM Thank you so much Diane. It helps a lot. I'm not sure I understood your post about "Found this lengthy thread for you! It also references another sight where you might find some interesting reads." Was the info about the visits you wrote from the thread ?

miss7721 09-07-2004, 10:57 PM I have a friend in Fort Dix and I plan on going to visit him for the first time. Does anyone know anything about what I can wear and bring in with me ? Can I hug him?
Any one know the "rules" ?
Thanks
mizdimplez 09-08-2004, 08:16 AM I posted a thread about visiting at Fort Dix a couple of weeks ago. I went to visit my fiancee for the first time in July. The actual visit was great! The visiting room has plastic chairs so you have to sit side by side. We could touch and kiss as much as we wanted (as long as it was appropriate, a kiss here and a touch there). The guards weren't hawking us they pretty much leave you alone. Fort Dix is huge, there are over 5,000 inmates so it was crowded and lots of kids running around.
The process to get in is where the headaches begin. If they are closed for count, they don't let you stand near the facility, they have a CO who drives around every 5 minutes and tells people to go back to their cars until the facility reopens. Now this poses a problem because eventually a line will form and you will end up in the back if you have to go and wait in your car. When they do finally open the process of filling out forms, inputting your information in the computer, and going through the metal detector, and then waiting for a CO to come and get you in a group takes about an hour. They are strict with clothing, no tight shirts or sleevless shirts even for kids! Always bring a jacket or sweater just in case.
Hope this helps, PM if you need any more information.

mizdimplez 02-08-2005, 07:32 AM Hi mwbabygirl,
Yes it does apply to the Eastside. That is where my fiancee is right now. He is actually getting ready to transfer to the camp in Lewisburg PA. Go figure, once I get used to Fort Dix, it's time for him to leave.
Let me know if you need anymore info about Fort Dix! Good luck with your visit.
mwbabygirl 02-08-2005, 11:12 AM Hi,
Just one more question, I reasd somewhere that Fort Dix has a 30 per month point system for visits. Is this true, if so how does it work?

mizdimplez 02-08-2005, 01:00 PM That is true but I'm not sure exactly how it works. I will ask, but I do know they go by last names and you get either Saturday or Sunday not both. The only time they MIGHT make an exception is if you are coming from out of town and I mean far out of town. I come from DC and they said that was still considered close. Also, i think the points are just for the weekend. I think you can visit anytime you like during the weekday.
