Seattle Times staff and wire services WILSONVILLE, Ore. -- Two prison employees have pleaded innocent to charges that they had sex with two female inmates last year.
Jeffrey Barcenas and Christopher Randall were arraigned Tuesday morning in a Washington County courtroom.
Both men worked at the Coffee Creek women's prison in Wilsonville.
"The department's Code of Conduct directly addresses relationships between or among inmates and staff. It says, 'Employees shall not become emotionally, romantically, or sexually involved with inmates/offenders...' The Code of Conduct also specifically stipulates that, 'Failure by employees to follow this policy may result in appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal,'" Corrections Director Max Williams said when the investigation began.
The indictment charges Barcenas, formerly a lieutenant at the prison, with nine counts of first-degree official misconduct -- a class A misdemeanor. Randall, the former food service manager, faces four counts.
The men were placed on leave during the investigation, and Randall has since resigned.
Barcenas and Randall are free until their next court appearances on May 17. The cases are being handled
Notice they are charged with misdemeanors! I found other similar articles earlier. Make no mistake, these men had sexual intercourse with the inmates. Were they coerced? A Lt. has alot of, or complete power over inmates.
