Hello. My 25 year old son is going to be sentenced May 3. Is there any advice that any of you can provide for him? Thanks.

WOW orasmom...that is a vague question...stay strong and stand tall.......and most of all be safe.....

If you haven't already, check out the parents with children in prison forum. There are some posts that are really helpful. I know we would like the insight and wisdom of the folks that have been there. Kind of a guide to prison for the young adult.

Been there..... Tell him to be respectful at all times of all people, inmates and staff alike. He will be treated much like he treats others. If he is a sex offender, tell him to lie about it.... in for drugs or something else. Sex offenders are the very bottom of the prison totem pole, below murderers. Their life is very much in danger in prison. Tell him to watch his "attitude", that it can shorten his life span. Don't cut in line. Don't bend over and show your butt to another prisoner, that's a big insult. Be very careful how he uses his mouth. If he lips off, it could be to the wrong person and the results could be nasty. Most of all, be there for him. It won't be that bad if he uses his head instead of his mouth.
