I don't know about New York - but I do that here in Cali, and have never had a problem. How did we live without cell phones???

I'm in New York and i called up verizon, our home phone provider, to have call forwarding added to our features and i do it all the time when i know i wont be home and might be expecting a call. So far theres been no trouble!

mcnuzzie- you have to call your home phone service provider and tell them you'd like to have call forwarding. For me, i just press 72# on my home phone and at the dial tone type in the phone number of my cell, your cell will ring and when u pick up the cell and answer, call forwarding is activated and all calls to your house will go to your cell... to un-activate, you just press 73# on your home phone and it will turn it off! This is how it works with verizon home phone service, im sure the procedure is different for different companies, just call them up and get it added! Good luck

Is there an extra charge on your cell phone when the calls are forwarded there?

I don't see it being a problem, but then again one never knows when it comes to New York prisons! Be careful of any hidden charges on the cell phone.

I'm almost positive that the calls just use up your minutes on yoour cell phone plan... the charges are to your home phone as normal. I'll let you know when i get my cell phone bill. But im 99% sure its all billed the same as it normally is to your home phone... its really useful to have!

I do it all the time. There is no additional call on your cell bill. you only use additional minutes. Even if your at someone else's house or out of town, where ever you forward the call there will never be a charge to that number. only your home phone number.

Like mother like daughter...I don't have one either! But if I wasn't able to visit my guy every week, I'd go get one right now and order call forwarding.

I do it too. I was never informed it was in any violation. I have ultra call forwarding so when I'm travelling and want to change it back I can do it at a remote location. This came in handy when I called into work sick. I have a manager from hell who checks on you (calls to act like she cares), it was so gratifying knowing I was really taking an extended weekend vacation when she called me back:)
