I went through the same thing, only thing I was the felon who could not get my housing. After being off parole for 2 1/2 years and out of prison for almost 4 1/2, and doing fairly well in the community, I would have thought all would have been forgotten. But no it wasn't. After being told the waiting period for me would be 10 years out of prison, I threatend to call ACLU because of discrimination. Within 1 week, I recieved a call back from the Housing Office stating that they had a meeting regarding this, and changed their ruling from 10 years down to 3 years of last conviction. Prior to getting the call, my two teenagers and myself were on the verge of becoming homeless, because here in the State Of Hawaii, the median in rent runs for a 2 - 3 bedroom apartment anywhere from $900.00 if I'm lucky, up to $2.000.00 a month, not including utilities. I'm so grateful for what I have now.
Aloha, Kalei

I'm worried about that too. I'm told that the manager has the final say-so, but due to his history, I don't know what else to do but pray. Any help out there?
