Hi Everyone!

Okay.. here goes again ... if this posts more then once, please forgive me; my 'puter seems to be acting up and I'm not sure if this is being sent or not...

I wanted to send some information re correctional calls and the PSC (Public Service Commission).

I work for the phone company... not correctional billing but for a local company in Florida; I also have a friend who works for MCI who bills for most of the correctional calls in Florida and for some of the southern states.

The information I have to pass on, you may or may not have heard before but for the sake of those who haven't, please take note and pass it along! :-)

MCI (for inmate billing) is called MCI - Friends and Family. Their telephone number is: 800-231-0193.

They will answer your billing questions, general questions and can also help you out if you've inadvertently pressed the "wrong" number on your phone keypad trying to accept your collect call. The majority of the time, the service reps who answer your calls are polite and nice but I will warn you that there are a few that aren't "so nice" but I'm sure most of us are already "use to" being treated a little differently anyway.

As far as the PSC goes; my feeling is this.... the Public Service Commission is there for us... the taxpayers, the PUBLIC, the consumer and we have a right to voice our opinions and complaints re the high toll rates! For those of you in Florida who wish to file a complaint, this is their web site http://www.floridapsc.com/consumers/complaint/index.cfm. I've already filed a complaint but we need an abundance of them to flood their office.

The FLA D.O.C. is making a killing off of our money and for probably the most of us, these toll calls are outrageous and cause us either to stop accepting the calls from our loved ones, limit calls or go broke accepting the calls.

In other states, family members of those incarcerated have filed class action lawsuits re the high toll charges and they've actually won! We need to write to the PSC and complain, complain, complain; it's the ONLY way our voices will be heard!

Another GREAT site to check out re information is http://fplao.org/index.html.

I strongly urge all of you to seriously consider emailing the PSC and visiting the above site for information. We need to stand strong and fight the way they treat us as well!

Best Regards,

Marti
