I just checked the DOC Offender Lookup and one on my young friends (penpal) was just moved to the Great Plains Corrections facility in Hinton. OK. This is a private prison and I did find the website info on it and it's so-called 'programs' but my question is:

Do any of you have any real personal knowledge about this unit?

Like since it is privately operated (Cornell Correction Corp, in Houston, TX ???) is it better/ or worse than a DOC unit would be as far as what an inmate has to deal with on a daily basis? Is it a rough unit as far as inmate-to-inamte?

Anything any of you may know about this unit would really be appreciated!

whitewolf... I know 1 person that was at a private prison and he told me that it is a whole lot better that "these people care, they are not like DOC". He was at Holdenville. That is the only thing I have heard.

About private prisons, I have heard that Wackenhut is bad, rough, etc. And that Holdenville is a decent place. No other info.

I talked to my man today...I asked him about this prison... He said its not bad! It's medium security and alot like Holdenville/Davis Corr.
He did say Wackenhut is horrible!!

My husband is at Lawton, says they dont feed them enough. He has a pretty nice caseworker. And one thing I have notice is that are are pretty up to date on his information. Thats about it and he said they were too cheap with the heat.

Oh thnak you all so much for you replies...sorry I am just now getting the chance to check in. I had a really busy week. (My daug.-in-law has been in the hospital and I had the grandkids all week. GAWD, I wonder how did I do it as a young, single mom back when? )

Anyway, this place is run by the Cordell Corrections Corporation out of Houston, TX. I think it had maybe been closed for a while or something and they just recently re-opened it to deal with the over-flow from Lexington intake or something. (Not really sure on that though.)

Anyway, hopefully it is one of the better ones. I read about their programs and if they actually do what they say they do some of the programs they offer sound really good.

Idy, I'll be looking forward to hearing anything else you can find out for me! Thanks! :)

Well I finally got a letter from this penpal on Wednesday. He managed to get yet 'another' Class A wirte up just before he was transferred out of Lexington to GPCF.
UGH!
Anyway, he said the because of the write up he is at the A-B 12 section and it isn't too bad but he is in his cell most of the time (disiplinary, I am sure.).He says that the Bunit unit is teh drug rehab unit and C pod there is ' the dorms' and it is really laid back.... I thought I'd add all of that in case anyone else has a loved one ther and is curious about it.

Now...I have a whole new question for all my Okie pals...if you can tell me anything about this group I'd really appreciate it!

He also said in his letter that he had gotten a tattoo while he was at JHCC from a guy in the IBH (Indian Brotherhood)and that he was ask to join but walked away. (He is a full-blood Pottowatomie/Lakota.)

(Well if he didn't join then I wonder why did he get this tattoo?)
He says it is on his left arm and is a Warrior with an eagle's head in his hair.

Does anyone have and information about this group? Is is a 'gang' per se, or is it more of a Spiritual group like a Prayer Circle or Drum Circle???

I will support him no matter what...his dad (who passed away a few years ago) and I were good friends and I feel like he is one of my family and I have taken him under my wing, so to speak, but I'd really like some insight as to what the boy may be getting himself into here!

Thanks and please..anyone...if you have any info on the IBH let me know!

I don't know anything about IBH but I am sure it is a "gang". The prisons are full of them now. I know that you should not join one, but then again they can save your life but if they tell you to take someone else's life then you must or "they" will take your life. How long has he been in? I'm praying for the best for you. Hope someone comes along with more info. God Bless

well whitewolf as far as some private prisons are good my husband is at holdenville and has been for the last 5 1/2 years and it is the best private prison there is so many programs that are offered there but as far as those gangs are concerened better to stay clear from there because there more harm than good. It could get him more time than he expected, good luck ok
