My man has been in 10 yrs already on a 20 yr sentence.
There's going to be so much I have to teach him about computers and cellphones...all the new technology. My poor baby thinks he is going to be able to get a beeper when he comes out! :haha: He has been is since he was 18...he will be 30 when he sees parole again. Things will ahve changed so much...do you ladies ever feel like your man/son/wife/daughter will be overwhelmed with all the changes in technology??? I know he is going to be amazed at the flat screen TV, camera cellphones and 2 way pagers.

YES He is also concerned about it.
He has never seen the internet in action - only heard about it.
I am into (mainframe) computers as my day job and my night time hobby is
on the PC side - web design, administering two domains.
He is real concerned about getting up to speed.
He did learn PC inside. He has read books about web designing.
I sometime feel guilty talking about things he does not know.
But he wants me to so he can stay up to date and ask questions.

This is tooooooooooo funny. My man and I talk about it all the time. One visit was spent just explaining the internet. Another visit was explaining email, and another was on chatting. It's cute!
lovesaaron...I work on a mainframe all day too. How funny! :)

My man and I have talked about this. He's been in since 98' and he's amazed about things I tell him. He knows about cell phones, and some things about the computor. I try to keep him updated on things. I know things will be so different for him in 12 years. I hope I can make it easier on him. It's gonna be fun though! I remember one time at visitation he asked me as soon as he got in there "So baby you can actually watch people have sex on the internet!" I said yeah. there's really not much you can't do on the internet. Yeah this is gonna be fun! :)

I think Daddy will be overwhelmed, but i have assured him that I will be here to help him every step of the way. He is already talking about me sitting on his lap teaching him how to use the computer. :) I can't wait. :)

A beeper? LOL>.. Do they still make them things?? Damn?!
Yeah, I think about this all the time. He was always a person who loved electronics so things will just about blow him away. NOt to mention the fact that he will be out in 14 years from now, so god only knows what will be out technology wise then!
We talk about cellphones, and computers... I am a computer person so I teach him things about it in letter or at visits. He asks alot of questions... about DVD's and stuff like that. I can't wait to sit on his lap and teach him everything :)

you would think they would offer some type of classes that teach them how to use email and internet...basic stuff. but I guess they don't want them having connection to the outside. (i understand that) but to find a decent job now a days you have to know the computer.
