Does anyone know what the true sentencing law is. If someone get's life with parole what are they actually required to do before they are considereed for parole?

Truth in sentencing varies, but generally it's a what gears eligibility of parole (if any) on a standard percentage of a given sentence of years.. ie 20% for a non violent offense, 50% for a violent offense... Life sentences of course--non year terms.. are usually dealt with by a standard of their own... In KY.. Violent offense is 50% OR 12 years--whichever is Less...The exception to that one is a LWOP/25 which is a sentencing thing done by the trial court. If a court orders 25 at sentencing the DOC is stuck with it. Life sentences there come with 12 and 25 year eligibilities. |
