I have been dragging my feet for long enough, and I'm ready to ask for permission. What do I say in my letter to the Superintendent?

To get married, that is.

hi,i was wondering too when i had to write mine.i only wrote that i was requesting the authorisation to marry such inmate......2 weeks later my fiance received a letter with our date!

In your letter to the super intendant you need to request the information on policy, procedure, and requirements for a weeding in an institution. You also need to write in there that you are advising them of your willingness and intent to marry your guy. Also include in there his name(of course LOL), DOB, age and prisoner id #. That's what I had to do. No date yet but we are shooting for a june wedding. Good luck and take care!

I just sent a brief 1 paragraph letter to the supt. indicating that we were requesting to get married, with all of our pertinent details (names, his DIN, my current address and contact numbers) - he had to send a letter to supt indicating the same. Response rec'd was that since we were both requesting to be married, it wld then be forwarded to his counselor who wld contact me to set up interview, and give all the guidelines, etc. Process can be time consuming but worth it! Wishing you well ...

I sent one sentence-
Please accept this letter as a request for permission of marriage to -------------. signed with my name address and phone number.
That's all they are getting out of me for something so rediculous. And yes I got married.

You can keep it very simple.
I siad something like:

My name is......, My fiance, .......DIN..... is currently in ............CF. I am writing to inform you that we wish to be married as soon as facility paperwork and polcy allows.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.


As far as I know, your guy also has to write the superintendent.
