Hi my husband wrote and wants me to send our marriage certificate so it can be documented in his file, but I have read in other threads that a few ppl who sent theirs in it was sent back and needed to be sent directly to their counselor. Is this true? If anyone knows please let me know cause I would hate it if it some how got lost or damaged in the mail.

You can just get copies for the county court house and way you will always have your original. Barb

Yes that is true you need to send it to there counselor so she or he can approve it. Dont send it to your Fiance...... once you send it to the counselor they will notify him.....

It could be sent to the records department but trust me that would be a major mistake. Send it directly to the supervising correctional counselor (CC II) or the assigned correctinal counselor (CC I). Make sure you have sent a valid and certified copy from the county clerk! Personally, I would try to arrange for the county clerk to forward it to the facility directly, that way the verasity of the document cannot be challenged. You can supply the clerk with the stamped or postage paid envelope. Apparently, too many individuals have forwarded fake marriage certificates to the department in order to gain conjugal visits that otherwise would be unauthorized.
