Legislators are proposing bills that would make more inmates eligible for prison release in a bid to save the state money.

The proposals would keep murderers behind bars while relaxing the rules for less serious offenders like drug dealers. The ideas include freeing elderly inmates, shrinking the time that must be served for parole eligibility in some crimes, and steering away from prison time for probation and parole violations.

I've looked online and haven't found much on this. Have there been any developments on this since this article? I know there have been to HB 414 as they are described in the other thread, but any updates to lessening the time needed before parole for nonviolent, nonrepeat offenders?
