I am sorry that I don't have detail, but I can tell you this. The ONTARIO sex offender registry is available to law enforcement only - it is not published on the web or even available to the public on request - it is only available to the law enforcement officials.

I don't know about the probation part sorry.... but you are very lucky that this is not a published registry!

For the above link see the box of links on the left hand side under the SO Registry box - it tells you about who must register and disclosure and other details.

I am still trying to find more on 8.10

Thanks sooo much!! I knew about that page but it just doesn't seem right!! How can he be done his whole sentence for one SA, done 6 years in full and they expect him to report to the police ( not parole) for 2 years and then on the registry for 10 years! Also I don't understand how it could be that they will warn the public when they are being released if they have SERVED THERE FREAKING SENTENCE AND JUMPED THROUGH ALL OF THERE ENDLESS HOOPS AND BEND OVER BACKWARDS FOR CSC TO F**K YOU UP THE A**!!

Sorry, Can you feel the frustration?? From some of the stuff I have read I understand the inmate does not have to give consent for the 8.10 orders and can fight it but... After being in for 6 years who the hell is gonna have cash to fight it! I am just so freaking upset over this, he is beatinghimself up over it and its getting stressful! He sees the parole board in august but still he is not expecting to get out but his WED is only 2005.

Thanks for the info!! I really do appreciate it ! Thanks :)

I don't mean this as it sounds... but be VERY THANKFUL that he is in Ontario and NOT in the United States... Not only is the SO Registry published in the United States but in some states their pics and address information is put on a flyer and mailed out! Talk about making an announcement! In most if not all states, the registry is for LIFE! So - count your blessings... you really are in a very good situation! At least you can have a more normal life. Reporting is not the end of the world... it is like having a bunch of Doctor appointments!

I always hate hearing/seeing stuff like "So and So has been released and is living in the area of blah blah blah..." on the news or in the paper. I feel so horrible for the offenders family because it's just more public humiliation for them. Until my hubby's story hit the local news I hadn't given stuff like that a moments thought. My views on a lot of things have changed considerably since then...

Big hugs for you my dear.

Yes, I'm so glad that we are not living in the States. Thanks for posting the links...I've been wondering myself..what is expected when an SO is released in Ontario.

In the states the registry can really screw things up.

My man was put on it in NY because of a bad lawyer and judge back in 98 and then stayed with his sister once he did his time ( which was only 30 days and then 5 years probation) and some one watching the registry sent flyers out to everyone in that neighbourhood trying to say that he was a child mollester but the local police got wind of it and sent flyers also stating that he wasn't and described the actual crime that got him on it. He even got interviewed by reporters after that and was able to tell his story.

I think that the registry sucks the way it is so open that anyone can check it for any names they want and then cause problems for those families.
