anyone have any ideas of what we can send our loved ones for halloween...paper-based crafty things? i sent off a card today but that felt a little lame. though i did use orange marker.

how about printing pictures of candy, cutting them out and making a trick or treat bag? argh, i feel like i am turning into a kindergarten teacher :)

hmmmmm I have no idea on that one I also sent David a card and I felt lame as well wish he was home to take the kids trick a treating with me.

My sister-in-law carves pumpkins - you know those awesome ones with real looking pictures in them. I took pictures of the ones she carved to send to my husband and a pen pal I have. I also bought Halloween cards to send.

Also, maybe if you have kids, you could dress them up in costumes and take pictures and send the pictures now, so he'd have them on halloween. My poor dog - she's dressing up with a bandana and a denim vest again this year and I took a couple of pictures to send. Corny, huh?

you should post the picture of the dog :) i don't know if my parakeet will let me dress him up :)

Hi Phil...

Well, a "real" trick or treat bag is created when kids go from door to door in costume collecting "treats"--little snacks like candy bars, lollipops, etc. (Sorry if you already know this :) and I'm saying really simple things.) They come home with a bag full of goodies and get to eat the candy for hours, days, weeks...depending on how much they collected and how much self-control they have! :)

So this is how my idea is working out: I am going online finding pictures of popular American candies, printing them out, cutting them out, and then pasting each onto a piece of construction paper...it's a little time consuming LOL but I happen to have some time this week...then I will write a message or something on the back of each, or a few...

One of my friends pointed out that my friend might be upset because he'll "really" want to eat these things & that I'm just tormenting him...but...I still think he'll like it...

There are also a lot of nice online Halloween ecards that you can find & then print out to send your friend.

And, yes, Halloween is the 31st of October.

Ok this isn't actually a Halloween idea ...but something to celebrate the fall season :)
Last weekend I took the kids to the park and while I was sitting there watching them play, I looked around at all the trees and noticed how pretty they were just starting to change colors.
Well I got to wondering how long it had been since AG had held a leaf in his hand.
Anyway...I got this idea, I had the kids help me pick out some of the really pretty bright colored leaves, about 15 of them. Then I took them home stuffed them all in a big manila envelope, and enclosed a note saying..
Happy Fall Sweetie...
Wanna play in the leaves??..:)

I've got an "unauthorized mail return receipt" saying my correspondance is return for the following reason:
" Contains electronic or other non paper parts, laminated materials, stickers or stamps other than postage stamps, and/or any other unauthorized material per Chapter 33-210-101."

It's from the Forida DOC, so maybe it is different in other states. I do hope AG will get his leaves, because it's a nice sweet idea !!

OH!!! I want to do the leaves!! AGsfriend...please let us know if he gets them! That is such a beautiful gesture. My Andy would just love it, especially since he hasn't been outside or looked out a window in 2 months!

I thought the leaf thing was cute so I call were my man is and asked before I went and did it and they told me they could not give that to him it is considered contuban and it would be sent back
so I went and collected all different types if leaves and took computer paper and took a color marker or something and ran it over the paper that was over the leave and it left the leave markings like we use to do in shcool then I cut them out and put them in the package and sent them to him with a note in side that said that if I could not send the real leaves this was as close as i could get to it so happy FAll....

I sent him like 50 leaves that way cut out and colored he just loved it and he said it was just like the real things in his amagination and that he loved it......

I took some photographs of the changing leaves - just something beautiful about this time of year. As soon as I get them back they are going to Wayne.

I've got a letter from Joey today !! :) He's got his Halloween bag !!! The post office really sucks at times, it was too quick for once !!!
Anyway, he was so happy and quite surprised I've spent my time doing this for him!! It was the first time he ever had a "hand made" Halloween bag, and his celly is very jealous !! His letter is so nice, that it really was worth printing out and cutting off all these damn candies !!! :D Thanks for the idea and all your explanations Emme, you brought smiles on both sides of the Atlantic !!! :)
Ok now let's start with this Thanksgiving turkey !!! :D

Emme, you make us work a lot !!! You know what ?? One of my best friend showed up this afternoon to my place for a drink !! I was cutting off my 3rd turkey !! He asked me what I was doing and I told him !!! I didn't like the way he looked at me ..... I could read "completely nut" in his eyes .... :D OK let me find a link to damn these pecan pies now !!! :D

P.S AG never got the leaves~they called it contraban~even though he couldn't have them, they were nice enough to show them to him.

Just a quick FYI -- the stupid dumb prison wouldn't let my Halloween "goody bag" through...all it was was pictures of candy glued down...they have let other "glued things" through. Idiots!

I am sending my boyfriend a card for Halloween. If I tried to send anything else I would probably get it sent back. They are very strict with their mail. I told my boyfriend to buy himself a candy bar and on Halloween night at 8 we are both going to eat our candy bars and celebrate together, even though we are apart. He thought it was a cute idea.

That leaf idea is cute. I was thinking about doing that...getting some nice colored leaves and scanning them in the computer and then printing it. But my color ink isnt working, so maybe I can scan them and have my friend print it for me. If not, going to Walmart and using their picture thing shouldnt be a problem...

I am doing cards and may send some favorite candy his way. The cards are computer made, I put a design and "Trick or Treat" on the front of each card. Inside I put a really silly or ugly photo of myself. (I had my hair dresser take a photo of me in foils when I was having my hair highlighted..THAT one is scary!! lol)
The first card says BOO! inside....He will get that Tuesday, Wednesay he will get another one wtih another silly photo and inside it says "Oh POOP, another trick!!
I will mail out one more card that has a really nice shot of me inside, the 'treat', he should get that Friday. I think he will get a kick out of the three cards, the waiting and the final result!
I didn't think anything sould be more than one layer...didn't know cut and pasted things would be allowed. I'm in NY. hmmmm

kristen, i loved the cartoon ( speeding witch ) !! i printed it and am going to send it to my hubby- i've had 2 speeding ticket in the past 3 months, both was going to see him!! he lectures me every visit, every phone call!! he's gonna love his halloween cartoon! the leaves were a beautiful idea too- gosh, you guys are so creative! but they won't let me send anything like that- not even stamps. once i did get kinda corny and i traced my hand on a piece of paper and sent it to him...he really loved it, he still has it after over a year, he pasted it to his wall with toothpaste and he says when he feels lonely he puts his hand over mine and it makes him feel better..aaawwww! i made him send me one too, and i use it for my bookmark...it really is nice...

You made me cry with the hand print thing. I'm definitely gonna have to do that with Louie. It's not the same as having them right there, but its close enough. :( God I miss him!
