My fiance's b-day is coming up and I want to do something special but my options are very limited! I've already bought like 5 b-day cards to send but I want to do more, I just don't know what! Anyone have any ideas or input on how they made their loved ones b-day special! All suggestions will be greatly appreaciated! Thanx!

Someone spoke once about giving a star the name of a loved one. Eric will get an official certificate stating his named has been given to such star, and a map to locate "his" star ! :)

I remember someone saying they had a B.D. party for their guy with close family & friends, decorated, served his favorites, had a cake and sang happy birthday when he called and took pictures.
I like the star idea that Phil sent.

handmade cards and/or collages laminated Pictures are always good

also if you want start a thread for his birthday and all the PTO members can wish him a happy birthday and you can print it and send it to him
send him a series of romantic letters, with the last line of each one" tobe continued......

okay...this is what i'm working on right now...a "vacation" on paper...you can go to a search engine...type in "virtual trip" plus the name of a place...somewhere you want to both go...and it will give you all sorts of photos and history, background, etc...i cut out the pics, write my own commentary next to them after i've glued them down....and then you have a little vacation...you can really go crazy and find the names of restuarants (even menus) etc. etc. to make the trip more "real"...also look for hotels, find pictures of it....call me crazy, but this is a lot of fun for me to do....

oh i just thought of something else...do you have a pet of some sort...they have b-day cards (or you could make one) from your pet...i did this with my parakeet :) ... you write the card in the voice of the pet..."Dear So and So, I really miss you and they won't let parakeets visit at that prison you're at so you'd better come home. I wish you had wings..." and so on...

Here is a little tricky one that Im working on myself these days...
Do you have a digital camera? One of those that make a little video?
Im sure Ive got Phils attention now!!! :D

Make a short video - with your face only - saying "I love you"
On you computer work with it "frame by frame"
Give them numbers, print and cut each frame out
put them all together (like a deck of cards)
If you then go quickly through these pictures (like you will do with a book) then the movie is playing your very own
"I love you" video


My b/f is not allowed to recieve lipstick, perfumed letters, letters written with glitter pen, anything with clips and so many other things. Only plain letters - copies and computer prints... So that sure do something to my creativity :D

I have printed out 40 hearts. (or use one heart for each year)
Cut out each!
And in each I put a nice - lovely word.
Like:

Then I also cut out a banner to go along with it saying
"Im sending you a Heart Attack"

Emme, thank you too ! I've been to the Seychelles islands tourist board this morning ! They gave me nice catalogues, with wonderful photos of luxury hotels, beaches, landscapes etc !! :) I gonna take him on holidays for Thanksgiving !!! :D

You know what ? All these little "gifts" we send them, are REAL gifts !! Because of their situation, we just can't go to a shop and buy something. We have to work with our imagination, and very often with our hands and scissors papers etc !! We really MAKE a gift !!! And it comes much more from our heart than from our wallet, therefore I think they are more valuable !!

Kristin the heart attack idea is so cute! I also agree with Phil about our gifts being more meaningful because they were made by us ecspecially for them!

Ok, I may repeat a couple things already mentioned, but just bare with me....lol
Whew, I just got passed Dale's birthday.... and here's what I done.
Of course, I had tons of birthday cards.... I mailed him one every day for almost 2 weeks!
I also went and bought the party hats and banners.. hung them up and took pictures of his 'birthday party' and sent those to him.
I wrote a special... ummm.. fantasy type letter regarding his birthday and took some... ummm...took some provocative pictures, (well, as provocative as you can get sending pictures to a prison), and sent those to him.
Then I went to the bookstore and sent him one book he had been wanting... and i Found another book on exotic islands and such. I went through and made notes in alot of the margins.. like, "this is where we'll go first", or "I can already smell the ocean, can't you?" Stuff like that, kind of planning out all the things we'll do when he gets out! (like we'll ever get to go to all those exotic places, but it was fun to pretend).
Hmm, I think that about covers it.... oh, and I drew him a picture he's been bugging me for for months now (lol). I just hadn't had the time to sit down and do it... so I finally did.

Don't know if any of this helped... but... I typed it all anyway...lolll
