Boyfriend questioned over murders

01apr04

THE boyfriend of one of three siblings murdered at their Brisbane home almost a year ago has been allowed to go home after more than 18 hours of questioning by police.

Neelma Singh, 24, her brother Kunal, 18, and sister Sidhi, 12, were found dead at their Bridgeman Downs home in Brisbane's north on April 22 last year.

Police believe the siblings were killed in their beds before being dragged into the bathroom and dumped in a spa.

Their parents were overseas at the time of the murders.

Neelma Singh's boyfriend, 34-year-old computer technician Max Sica, who found the bodies, voluntarily went with detectives to the Petrie police station north of Brisbane yesterday.

A police spokeswoman said Mr Sica left the police station at 5.15am (AEST) today.

She said it was likely he would face further questioning.

Police also carried out an extensive search of Mr Sica's home in northern suburban Stafford Heights after going to the house yesterday morning.

The spokeswoman said police concluded their search of the house at 4.30am (AEST) today.

"Numerous items were taken from the house, but their evidentiary value is still to be assessed," the spokeswoman said.

Detective Inspector Tony Cross told reporters yesterday police were not working to a time frame.

"It's a complex investigation, a major investigation, probably one of the biggest in Queensland's history."

The parents of the three siblings, Shirley Singh and her husband Vijay, an auto parts importer, were in Fiji on business at the time of the murders.

Their surviving child Sonia Pathik was living elsewhere in Brisbane with her husband.

The police should try investigating other avenues and suspect (try investigating the children's family) and leave Mr. Sica and his family alone(young children of the sica family getting dragged down to be interviewed for hours by investgators, false accusations in the papers regarding the Sica family which has nothing to do whatsoever with this case etc) or at least do not pronounce and treat a man as guilty before he has even been tried yet. Mr Sica may have committed arson in the past, but that does not make him a murderer. I know Mr. Sica and I also know that he had no reason, motive or even the heart to have done those horrible things to those poor 3 kids.

I also think that that personal friends of the Singh family who are in the police force should not be working on this case due to personal grudges and biasness.

What a terrible tragedy. I did notice the date on the top of Kyla's post and realised it was from nearly three years ago, but a tragedy none the less. I wish this family the very best and hope they have been able to find the closure they were looking for. What a terrible waste of such precious lives!
