View Full Version : Looking for love crimes
Abbygor 10-14-2002, 05:37 PM Hi
I am a documentary filmmaker and I was hoping someone could help me. I am researching an independent documentary film called "Love Crimes" and I am looking for stories about crimes people have committed for love. Not murders or extra-cruel stories, but the often illegal lengths people will go in order to prove their love to, or help, the person they love. For example, there is a story of a man who set fires in front of his girlfriend's house in order to put them out and look like a hero, only to have the fires burn out of control and destroy 10 houses. Other stories could be ones about women who try to break their boyfriends out of jail, men who hold up banks to buy wedding rings--that type of thing.
I would need to know specifics such as names and dates, but these people's stories would only be used with their explicit permission, so confidentiality would not be an issue.
If you know of any such stories or could offer me assistance of any kind, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks,
Abby Schwarzwalder

Cameo 10-14-2002, 05:48 PM Could you tell us more about the purpose of your documentary? Is it to tell a story on human emotions?..Will it show any of the legal injustices they may have gone through (after the fact)?...Will it exploit the individual by just adding more anger with the public viewers??
Please explain more of the purposes behind your documentary!
Thank You
Pamela
Abbygor 10-14-2002, 06:04 PM This film is about love--it's about the lengths people will go in order to secure love. Some of the things people will do for love are rash, crazy, even illegal, but I want to show how for some people, it was worth risking even their freedom for the love of another. There is something very universal about the idea that "all is fair in love and war"--even what Romeo and Juliet did was illegal. There is something very romantic about acts that demonstrate just how much a person means to another. This is the kind of film I want to make.
I am a very experienced documentary filmmaker--I have just finished a TV series for ABC called "Peter Jennings: Search for America" and have worked on countless TV documentaries such as A&E Biogrpahy's "Marilyn Monroe: Mortal Goddess" and "John Wayne: American Hero."
Any help or input you give me would be greatly appreciated! I would love to hear any stories of your experiences, either here, or you can email me privately at Abbygor@aol.com.
Thanks!
teuton 10-24-2002, 03:28 PM Hi, I have an idea for a "real" love crime -- How about the State of Texas! Who alots only 3 to 5 minute phone calls per every 90 days!
You see, the winds of war blow yet once again, I shall do, that which my country asks; hence, I leave 3 November 02, without the opportunity, to hear the voice, of one I love
more than words can describe:
"...Good Bye My Love, fear not, I shall return to you sweetie, for I know that destiny, will not deny the union of two hearts, who long to be one so, so much!! This my love, shall not be denied! Our colective energy, our bond will attract only the good, the positive… My darling think of gentler times, dream of the day, when we meld, unionize as one, to the day we throw our passions into the wind, for you are the crucible of my desire...! A smile your face should hold, every time a soft warm breeze caresses your beautiful face, for that my dear, is a kiss by me, from a far -- a big hung and kisses to you -- I miss you!"
That, Maam, is a crime of passion all to itself....

Abbygor 10-24-2002, 03:52 PM That does seem to be cruel and unusual!
believe me,,,,, Tx does not have much on communication for phone calls,,,,,,i think it is totally wrong to take a inmate away from there family all together,,,,,,, they dont have much to hang on to as t is, and they lose alot when lock up,, and then to take away communication,,,,, that is not right
teuton 10-25-2002, 07:52 AM Hi Lulu,
Appreciate your tuning in... I do have a question though, in your experiences, and I'm speculating you have a loved one in the Texas System, given your home of record per your picture, anyway, how closely do the folks monitor in coming letters, and what do they find as voodoo topics?
I not advoacting anything other than verbiage here... I realize that one can't send "porn" stuffs, ie, pictures and the like... Further, I realize that it's relative to the institutions and staff -- I guess I'm looking for generalities here...
What's your take???
Eddie
