My husband called me tonight & told me they are moving him to Tucson by April 18th with a bunch of other men from Lewis. He said they are transfering 200 out of the 400 people out of state & he might be one of them. They will be moving those men to either Texas or Oklahoma. Do any of you know anything about this?
Is there any way to prevent him from being moved out of state?
Anyone know who I could contact about this?

Please help me! [IMG]

I was able to get the number that deals with the inmates that are being moved.
They can tell you if your inmate is on "The List" to be moved just be sure to check Friday BEFORE you go to visit. I hope I am allowed to post it~ if it gets taken off just pm me and I will get the number to you as fast as I can.
602-364-2080 this AZDOC number is for the transfering list ONLY (week by week)

Q. Is there anything I can do to prevent an inmate from being transferred?

A. No. These short-term transfers are necessary to relieve the critical shortage of beds and severely overcrowded conditions in Arizona's prison facilities. The Legislature, in Special Session, authorized funding for the placement of inmates in out-of-state prisons until 2000 new state and private beds are built in Arizona. We anticipate that inmates transferred to Oklahoma or Texas will return to Arizona in 6 months, contingent on good institutional conduct in the out-of-state facility.

Boooooo-hooooooo!

Ebon-so sorry to hear that, my heart goes out to you! Dont do what I did when I got that call about my son leaving! I lost it and almost ended up in jail myself!
following a prison bus down the Hwy as fast as I could , just needed to say one last goodbye before he left. Before I knew it 5 cop cars right on my a$$ did a felony stop no less! told me that is a inmate bus not the boy scout bus. I explained to them I just wanted to say goodbye to my son not break him out for crying out loud!
but they didnt take me to jail thank god! but at the time I really didnt care I was a mess that day I remember it well! my son said that was the most embarrassing moment of his life! But he is still young!
