babieboo 03-29-2004, 09:01 AM I got my first letter from my new friend on DR...I have to admit I was a little timid but when I read his first letter all those feelings went away..He is so nice, friendly, and really warm. He was so happy to get my letter...I must say that I am really looking forward to getting to know him.
Thank you softheart for your kind words and encouragement.

Thats fantastic, you will enjoy all his letters. They are some of the most open minded people that you will ever meet, with huge hearts.

Keltria 03-30-2004, 12:03 PM I agree, it is a life changing experience. I would never have thought a year or even 7 months ago that i would be writing or even creating a website for someone on death row. There are so many there that just need someone to write to. Someone who wont play headgames with them and someone they can be themselves with. I would not change this experience for the world, and I know that just for knowing my penpal in the time that i have, my whole life has changed, my point of views have changed and so has my compassion towards people. Enjoy your friend, and always know that if you want brutal honesty and the best friendship, thats where you would find it. :)
skyblue 03-30-2004, 12:52 PM I too am a real beginner at writting. I have learnt so much about even myself
in such a short space of time. My pp and I made a deal from the off to "tell it like it is" We make each other laugh, shout at each other, the works and it's all in friendship not a hint of romance in sight. I was a little put out therefore to read a rather cruel comment on pto reference and I quote"these women who think it's cool to write to a DR inmate. I think it's rewarding, educating and very worth while but not "cool". I can understand fully the concerns of wives and girlfriends but not all of us are trying to take their places.
rosita 03-31-2004, 09:26 AM That was my comment. No one can understand what its like when women are
constantly throwing themselves at a spouse. For us it does not work. It
almost wrecked our marriage. When a spouse goes through so much BS
because of so many things including "other women" that's cruel!
babieboo 03-31-2004, 09:42 AM Ladies please dont fight in here...this thread was meant to share my happiness because of my new friend who happens to be on DR...please ladies stay cool.
strawberryKR 03-31-2004, 09:46 AM !:!:BabieBoo!:!: I am SoOo happy to hear about your letter! Thats really sweet that you decided to write someone like him! I am also thinking about writting someone who is in the system, just be a friend to them and help them through whatever it is they are in for! Reading your post it made me not as scared to try and do so! Thanks girl for posting about your letter it helped me make me choice to write one!Cant wait to hear about all the future letters to come!
babieboo 03-31-2004, 09:53 AM Strawberry
I am so glad i inspired you to write and offer someone a friendship...there are a lot of lonely people out there who just need a friend...I have so many penpals cuz I cannot bear to here someone is hurting and lonely...I think that is a good thing to be helpful and caring towards others....you are doing a good thing! There needs to be more caring people out in the world...too many are quick to judge and turn their noses up.
strawberryKR 03-31-2004, 09:56 AM BabieBoo, I agree with you totally. People are to quick to judge, they think just becuase someone is locked up that they are some kind of cold hearted person who has no feelings and thats not true. It makes me feel so bad too, to think that there are people in the system who have no one to talk to on the outside and no family or anything! Its just heartbreaking!
CelliePieGrrl 03-31-2004, 05:56 PM Um...no one is fighting...I didn't think. :hmm:
Jillianjewel 04-02-2004, 03:58 PM I felt the same when I got my first letter, now he says he loves me and its gonna be so hard if the worst happens. But my Pat hasnt been there long and we have a long time to work on his case, he's only had his sister up to now.
softheart 04-04-2004, 06:19 PM BabiBoo I am smiling form ear to ear I am so happy that you got a letter. I am happy I could be of some help.
Enjoy your new friendship and if you need anything you know where I am.
