Hi

Well I've been writing to my man for several years now at SQ, at first it would take about two weeks for him to receive my letters and for me to get his........NOW we get them them within the same week most times. I live in the UK by the way so that is pretty good. In terms of what you write I have never had a problem with uh cussing.....believe me I send him some XXXXXXXX rated erotic fantasies. I don't know if it has to do with him being on death row for 22 years.

hope that helps

When my Hubby was in SQ the mail was TERRIBLE!! Like you said I would receive his letters in about 3 days (In Minnesota). But those letters were always, haven't you been writting??? I havent gotten a letter from you in days. Then all of a sudden he would get 5 or 6, I wrote almost every day. They were just terrible.

Yes it is true, the mail at San Quentin is the pits for the guys. We send them mail and
they get it weeks later. They send us mail we get it either 1 or 2 days later. Amazing
isn't it? Can we cuss in our letters? Hell yes!!! You should have been a fly on the wall
when I wrote my man letters. You can even write nasty letters too. Give him something to think about. "snicker, snicker" I said in another thread that if you are
concerned about the mail, call the mailroom at the prison and ask S'up with the mail?
They will tell you the up and up. Suzi

I rang the mailroom a couple of days ago and they were one week behind in processing incoming mail and gaining fast (a few weeks ago, they were nearly a month behind, so that actually is progress)
Keep writing, date your letters, when I send letters one right after another, I also put a small (1) (2) (3) or whatever on the back of the envelope to indicate the order in which they're sent, while "Codes" are prohibited, this does not seem to be causing any problem.

My 21 year old son was sent to San Quentin almost a month ago and still has not received any letters from me and I have written him everyday sometimes 3 times a day since they transferred him. I just got 4 in 1 letters from him two days ago asking to please send stamps, paper, envelopes, and two see through bic pens. All but paper and pens had been sent weeks ago. Is there any way to get them to give him his mail? He is in West block on 23 hour lock down:(

From my limited experience with SQ mail, incoming mail can usually lie around for weeks at a time and then if the CO's can be bothered, they may, and it is only a may, get off their arses and deliver the damn stuff. Touch wood, I've been quite lucky with my guy getting the mail ( well I was.....but its all slowed down again) but perhaps thats because he is on DR. Having said that I know of others girls here on the forum who have loved ones on DR and they are having a nightmare with the mail. So, to sum up I have NO idea whats going on in that mailroom

I also sent in stamps and paper and pens but he still says they wont give him his property!! the mail room says that they are only 7-10 for mail. I guess coming out its is. I got his letter in 6 days. does anyone know if they can get packages? like toothpaste?

Mail HAS slowed again. I received a letter dated 20 May and it was sent out on the 30 May. He hasn't had any mail for weeks, and I send something almost EVERY day. It is getting beyond the joke and I really don't find it funny anymore.

I am wondering if anyone can guide me to how to find out my sons booking number, the phone number to find it out or something...... he was transferrsed to SQ last week, and I have no info, and I am really new to all this...... I would love to write and send letters, even if its a long process... as far as sending stamps etc.. that that have to go through a buying service? we cannot just send stuff from what i see.. when are they able to write? I have heard so many different things... I am so "consumed" with all these thoughts and feelings.. thanks to anyone with resources....

I have been wondering about the package question. Does anyone know if we can send packages? The web site for the state doesn't show mail regulations. Does anyone know where we can look for this?
