YOU CAN PUT MINUTES ON A CELL PHONE THROUGH EVERCOM, BUT YOU HAVE TO SET UP AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM FIRST, THE PHONE NUMBER TO EVERCOM IS:

NOW I'M NOT SURE IF IT IS THE SAME COMPANY FOR HOUSE PHONES, BUT I BELIEVE IT IS AND THE RATES DO VARY, BUT THE EVERCOM WEBSITE CAN PROVIDE YOU WITH RATE INFORMATION

*VISITS*
NOW TO THE MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION THAT I HAVE FOUND OUT SO FAR AND BY EXPERIENCE IS ABOUT THE VISITS.

-MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR ID AND MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY WARRENTS OR ELSE YOU WILL NOT BE VISITING YOU WILL BE IN THERE WITH YOUR LOVED ONE

-DRESS CODE DOES MATTER AND I WILL MAKE A LIST IN A MOMENT

-DO NOT BRING IN PURSES, DIAPER BAGS, OR BAGS OF ANY KIND

-THERE CAN ONLY BE 3 VISITORS PER INMATE IN ONE DAY

-THE VISITS ARE 45 MINUTES LONG

-MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARRIVE AT LEAST 30 MINUTES BEFORE THE SCHEDULED TIME OF VISIT. THEY SAY 20 MINUTES, BUT I WATCHED THEM TURN PEOPLE AWAY SO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE. IF YOUR VISIT IS SCHEDULED FOR 1:30 THEN ARRIVE AT 1:00 AND SIGN IN

NOW ON TO WHAT I THINK IS MOST IMPORTANT BECAUSE OF HOW MANY PEOPLE GOT SENT HOME TO CHANGE THE DRESS CODE.

*DRESS CODE*

-DO NOT WEAR PANTS THAT HAVE HOLES IN THEM, NOT EVEN THE ONES THAT ARE PATCHES THAT LOOK LIKE HOLES YOU WILL GET TOLD TO GO HOME AND CHANGE

-MAKE SURE THAT YOUR TOPS ARE NOT TO LOW CUT, YOU WILL BE TOLD TO CHANGE OR PUT SOMETHING OVER THE TOP

-NO SLIPPERS OR HOUSESHOES AND SHOES HAVE TO STAY ON THE WHOLE VISIT, THIS IS THE SAME RULE FOR KIDS NO MATTER WHAT THE AGE SHOES MUST BE ON THEM

-NO SHORTS, DRESSES, SKIRTS, OR DRESSES WITH REVEALING SLITS--ALL OF THE ABOVE ITEMS CAN NOT BE MORE THAN ONE INCH ABOVE THE KNEE

-YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE OPTION TO REQUEST TO TALK TO SOMEONE WHO HAS RANK

- THEY LOCK DOWN TWICE A DAY FOR FEED UP...I KNOW ONE OF THE TIMES IS FROM 5-6 IN THE EVENING. DONT QUOTE ME ON THIS, BUT I THINK THE OTHER IS FROM LIKE 11:30 TO 1

I spoke with St. Tammany Parish Jail again today and got some for specifics on what can be sent in the mail and what can not.

*if you are sending letters from your kids...do not use construction paper, do not let them put stickers on the paper either

*approved websites to have books and/or puzzle books to an immate are as follows:

walmart.com
amazon.com
booksamillion.com
barnesandnoble.com

*make sure books are soft cover, no hardbacks are allowed

*make sure that puzzle books do not have wired binding on them

*I also got some clarification on pictures

DO NOT: send pictures of children in bathing suits or diapers alone, it is considered child porn or something like that and it is contribane in a prison...he did not say who would get the charge, but it is not worth it (i personally find this a little silly we live in the south babies around here in teh summer are almost always in a bathing suit or just a diaper)

you can send bathing suit pictures of yourself, and you can pull off some "bedroom clothes", no exposure of nipples!!

yes I must have gotten in touch with the coolest mail room guy ever..he really broke it down for me, hope this helps!!

 I have all the detailed info on Evercom, but the system won't let me post it. I typed a very detailed list (took a very long time) and when I hit reply the system deleted my post because I had the website listed. :blah: Because I'm new it said that I have to have 15 posts before I can post website info. Wish it could have told me that without deleting my entire post. Anyway, if anyone needs to know anything about Evercom, just ask. :)

Starting Friday, the inmates have a new phone service provider. You have to call and set up an account via CSA (Customer service of America.) 1-800-849-6081. I would make minimal payments to the old phone carrier because refunds can take so long. You can set up the new account before they change phones over so your ready to go.

CSA is easy to deal with.
I been having to have an account with them for over a year now.

One thing I don't like about them is they don't give you online access to your account like Securus provides. So you either have to call them to add money with a credit card which has a $10 charge, or send them a money order which has no fee.

Also, if they make it do this, when an inmate callse, the phone number will show up on your caller ID as CSAs 800 number instead of the 985 number.

You can make a payment online at myphoneaccount.com You should call and set up your account before you make an online payment.

Costs just as much to call them to add money.

Thats all it is to make a payment tho, they are not set up to sign in and see my balance or see when calls came in.

If you listen to the recording at the beginning of the call, it will tell you your balance! FYI.

And if you keep listening past that and if the facility is set up for it, it will also tell you a phone number and box number to leave the inmate a voice message.

It costs a dollar from the inmates books for you to leave a message but it don't cost them anything to check and listen to their messages.

I know enough about the company to get by :P
