I hear through the grapevine that Hillsborough is going to be transformed into a women's faith based facility fairly soon. Does anyone have any information on that happening? My fiance is currently at LCI, and has heard this. Please post or send PM to me. THANKS!!!

I know that few (if any) out there have someone at hillsborough, but my boyfriend said last weekend when i talked to him on the phone that they had already transfered like a hundred people out of there and they were going to transfer him sometome this week. When i asked him why he said because they were changing it into a womens facility. I mean im not saying i dont belive him but is that possible? And if so does anyone know how to get any info on the computer about it? I have seached evrything i could think of to find any article or story or anything about it and i cant find anything anywhere. And when i look on the d.o.c. website it still says that he is at Hillsborough... I mean he was going to get transferred to work release anyway but i was just wondering bout the whole situation...

I dunno Mrs Kitty, I have not heard of that one yet, tho I believe that we have so few women facilities, it would not phase me. But please remember that rumors get started faster in prison than they did in High School! :p Definitely keep us updated if you know of anything else - I'll be on the look-out for articles regarding this, too!

He had actually been telling me that they had been talking about turning itinto a womens facility for a long time but he didnt they they actually were because they had talked about it for so long and never actually did it. BUt then when i had talked to him he said they had already shipped out like a hundred people there and they were going to ship the rest this week. I mean hes at Hillsborough and there are only about 250 inmates there to begin with. But at the same time i guess it may not be true hes confused about shit half the time anyway because hes got all those people(other inmates, the C.O.'s, his classification officers) telling him different stories all the time. i havent heard that one either but if u do hear anything else please tell us and it wouldnt suprise me at all either if they did because lilke sweetpea said there are so few female prisons and more and more females are coming in everyday

This is scary if it weren't due to I have a good job , I think I'd leave this state all you hear is more prison we need more from this goverment down here . not let's figure out a way to reform them no lock more up and when they get out watch them any slip their ours again ......

OK. Here is the answer. I used to work at Hillsborough Correctional Institution as a CO. I still have many friends working there. Yes they definatly are changing into a women's institution. all of the male inmates are being transferred to different institutions. the change should be finalized by april 1 2004. As of yesterday the 3/29 there were i believe 48 inmates still at HCI. I would also be interested to know which inmates ya'll know. I may have known them and am still interested in how many of them are doing. Let me know either in this thread or by PMing me. Thanks

GO figure my boyfriend is one of 49 still there. I checked the DOC website and he is STILL there. I thought it all should have been finalized by April 1st. Oh well i guess he will transfer when they decide to move him. Its just aggrivating because i dont know whether to send my letters to him or not. I mean if hes transfered it will take like a whole extra week for them to forward his mail to where he is at now... Ugh too much b.s. right now but I guess thats life huh

Two days later and he is STILL there. The whole place was supposed to be empty by the 1st. Guess not. Hmm wonder whats up with that. NOw there are 47 left.
