What a great site! Thanks for your open support of a life that few have ever know ~ waiting on the outside for someone in prison.

I've been reading posts for a while now and want to share my experience with the prison system. My husband has been locked up for 4 months for possible parole violations. It's crazy. He was sentenced to 20 + 20 years to run concurrent in 1990 and served 6. For almost 6 years he's been out and had no violations, not even a speeding ticket! In early December he was arrested and charged with grand larceny. Three months later the charges were dropped (no evidence) and he was shipped to another state (where he was originally sentenced) to go before the Parole Board there. What's crazy is that the Parole Board plays judge and jury. They can decide if he's innocent or not and revoke his parole even though he has no new convictions and no charges pending.

I hired a lawyer for him and when the lawyer contacted the Parole Board to find out when my husband's hearing would be, the Board had lost all paperwork concerning my husband! They didn't even realize he was in the state. Anyway, the lawyer got the hearing scheduled for this Tuesday, April 9th (keep your fingers crossed).

Right now we are both stuck in limbo, waiting to see what's going to happen. He could come home soon or spend 8 years in the Alabama prison system over nothing.

He's 300 miles away from me and I miss and love him more than I have the words to express.

by the way, Danielle, i was born in Biloxi, Mississippi--have not been back since I was less than a year old. My dad was stationed there at the time.

Gonna add my welcome to the rest. It is hard to handle a situation like this when you just don't understand why things are happening the way are. You just want to scream at everybody to stop and no one seems to listen. Well, we all will listen. Just hang in there.

Thanks everybody for your words of encouragement. I can tell this is going to be one sleepless night! My husband's hearing is scheduled for 9 o'clock in the morning and he is supposed to call the first chance he gets - good or bad. I'll let you know what happens.

He called today - I think the reality that he might actually have to stay in prison finally hit him. He's been in that "zone" since he's been there, where he retreats in his own mind and no longer associates himself with his own life. Whatever happens, I love him and will be here for him when he comes home.
