I remember reading somewhere that an inmate can get his commissary money put into a cashiers check in order to send it out...like back to whoever sent it. Now I can't find anything like that anywhere. Was I imagining things? Is it possible to do this in Texas?

The inmate can fill out what is called a pink slip making it payable to anyone he wants. It is then turned in at Commissary with a addressed, stamped envelope and they deduct the money from the account and mail the check. It works basically the same way as them paying for magazine subscriptions or ordering office supplies.
