I have taken zoloft, and I have heard some fabulous stories about it, but it made me very edgy and didnt help one bit. Coming off it was awful as well, It wasnt a experience I would like to go through again.
But as I said, that was just me, and I have heard some good stories about Zoloft.

My friend Mark in prison is on wellbutrin and he swears that is what gets him though.
If you have some inside knowledge to share about these dangerous side affects please share them with us, as you can see... there are quite a few people using the medds you listed.

Every medication has side effects - if you have any questions or concerns, speak with your doctor. I've both taken and administered anti-depressants for many years and have personally had little to no problems with them.

The makers of the medications also offer a wealth of information on potential side effects (they're required to by law). That is another great resource for information.

As a Mental Health Specialist I have seen the side effects of meds... every person reacts differently. I always recommend that everyone educate themselves on their medications. KNOW what the side effects are and don't hesitate to contact your doctor if the more severe side effects become present.

The medications you mentioned are widely used, but not everyone can take them... find a doctor you trust and believe in.. but its YOUR responsibility to EDUCATE yourself...

As some people already said, there are side effects with everything but if you choose between not coping with your own life or having some side effects I think most people choose the second option.
I have had some bad experiences but I'm still very possitive because they really helped me in that period of my life.

I use to take Prozac and believe it did help but I went off it because I was tired of the side effects. Also I guess I am one of those people who have decided they no longer want to cope with life. It's too hard anymore, and serves no purpose. I don't see what the point is in hanging around anymore. Been there, done that, just tired and wish it was all over.

Hi, My daughter just started taking zolift and she seem's to be tired all the time. She went to her Doctor and he increased her zolift to 100 . she was on 50, I am aware of side effects she says she needs the help. I have been on paxil cr for about a year. I am pleased but if i miss a dose I really can tell. Good luck to you all, The lady who was on prozac, My husband was on prozac he had bad reaction and he killed himself, I raley talk about it, I wish I could have helped him But i was unaware he was having so many problem's.... it has been 14 years ago, he had a great job with the government and we just bought a new home, I guess he was one of the few who can not take prozac, I know what the effects of a bad reaction can be, My son and I were almost killed also.. That is why i worry now when my daughter says she is depressed.. If the lady who was on prozac needs to talk please pm me I kinda know what she is feeling.
Bless you, Leather

Iam on Effexor XR and so is my 17 yr old son......He suffers from ADHD & Depression and I Depression.
We both took Zoloft but found that our system became usto it and so it was changed.......We can definitly can tell a difference if one of us misses a dose.......

My spouse is on Paxil but doesnt take it like he should and I am not sure how it affects him, because we don't live together, but my kids tell me they can tell a "BIG" difference in him, when he takes it and when he doesn't?

I had some terrible affects on zoloft, especially when they upped the dose, so just keep on eye on your daughter. I got headspins, ended up irratable, and felt drowsy all the time. They ended up changing me to another one, and I was fine. Coming off Zoloft isnt good either. If its not working for her, go back and tell the doctor, the sleepy feeling should go in a week or so, but if she is still feeling that way, she should go and tell the doctor the side affects shes having.

Just FYI to everyone here... I believe what started this whole thread off is the recent news stories in the U.S. there have been about the negative effects some people have experienced when going off drugs like Prozac, Effexor, Zoloft, Paxil, etc.... mainly about people (mainly young people) becoming suicidal or otherwise extremely negatively affected - but, as usual, it was a pretty low ratio to the number of people on these drugs. Thumbing thru recent archives of just about any U.S. news agency will bring likely bring up a lot of the articles because this was major news in the U.S. a week or two ago. The other side of the story is that this "big" "major" news flash was not really anything new... we have been hearing such stories ever since Prozac hit big in the late '80s and again here and there ever since. The night the news "broke" on the national network news, my guy and I were very interested to see what they said because he just started taking Prozac about two months ago. When we got back on the phone a little later we agreed that it was nothing new that hadn't already been publicized before. Think it must have been a slow day for news.
