I have just been wondering if you guys have filed your taxes with your husband's. This year I filed married jointly and they witheld my refund for some debt owed by my husband. i have filled out the appropriate form to get it back which they said could take up to 6 months. I was just curious on what others are going through.

Nah, this year I didnt because his taxes from 2 years ago were messed up and are still being worked on. I didnt want mine to get messed up this year and me not get anything back cause of it. So I figured next year when everything is wroked out with his then I will. Hopefully everything works out okay, good luck...

If he owes back child support or student loans...DON'T file with him and DON'T claim him as a dependant!!! But, if you're going to file "jointly", do it under the "innocent spouse" act.

you can be excused from his debts with a form and then you file it with your other forms...go to irs.gov to get it. I think it is number 857..called Innocent Spouse...I have to look it up, I forget where I put my info...I have debt and wondered about this for my husband...

Yeah i have actually filed that form. its the injured spouse form. but they say its going to take up to 6 months. i am sure i'll get my refund back, its just that i have to wait for it. I have several copies of his credit report but this stuff wasnt up there. I called to get information about it, but of course they wont tell me nothing about it.
