My fiance has been at Wasco reception prison for almost 2 months and they say it takes about 30 - 90 days for the whole reception process but on average does it tak shorter or longer! My reason for asking is I've been getting 1 hour booth visits for the last 3 months and I'm really ready for my 5 hour contact visits! Any replies would be helpful!

Hey! I was wondering how you were doing! :)

My friend was on transpack after 2 months, his counselor may tell him when he's being moved...my friends did. He knew the date and time he would be moved out.

I was really excited about the 5 hours of contact too! But then when my friend got to mainline, he had to be classified (which they say takes two weeks...we're on week 3 now) so he's only allowed 20 minute NON contact during that time...PLUS he's on lockdown, so they only allow 20 minute NON contact for that too...stinks, but oh well. These are the things we have to put up with for the time being.

Whoops...that made it sound like I got 40 minutes of visit...no, only got 20. And he won't get contact visits until a) he's classified b) he's not on lockdown. :( It might be different at other prisons, but where my friend is at, it's 20 minutes...end of story! Don't ask for more time. You will be frowned upon.

Thanks for the reply! So how are you doing? Your friend was in Delano right? Did he get transferred far away? So after he's classified there you'll get your contact visits right? I'm sorry for all the questions but I'm so new to all of this but I am learning as I go.

No problem about the questions, that's what we're all here for right? To help eachother out :)

Yes, my friend was at Delano (not far from Wasco) and he was moved not far away, but further than we expected. He was moved to Centinela which is outside of El Centro in Imperial County...it's about 2 1/2 hours from LA.

After he's classified, we will get contact visits **IF!** he is not on lockdown. If he is on lockdown, we will continue to have 20 minutes of non contact until the lockdown is over.

Thanx for the reply~ I looked up all the possible prisons he could get sent to that are level 4, four of them are not too far away but the 6 are more than 300 miles away! So hopefully my baby will get sent to one of the four that are closer! Keeping my fingers crossed!

Must be a lot of moving here for our boys lately. But I envy you ladies. My man was in Delano too, Soul. He had been there since June and was very recently moved to Corcoran. Way far from where I reside. So I hope your man gets sent somewhere close to you Princess. Because 5 hour visits are great, only if you don't have to make a 1,500 mile trip out of it every time. Best wishes to you both. Love and Respect.

I hear all of you. My visit is 700 miles round trip, which I still try to do every two weeks. PTO is such a blessing though. I've already met someone from my area to share the costs with and lower the mileage put on my car...LOL!! My husband put in for a hardship transfer cause his mom and dad are elderly and not in the best of health, but they denied him. Said they didn't have it in the budget to move any level 4, yet they just moved 2 that we know of. What a system! That's OK. I know my God is bringing him home no matter what they say!!

MY MAN IS ALSO AT WASCO WITH MONIKAS MAN, HES ALSO WAITING FOR TRANSFER AND HES IS THE SAME BUILDING AS MONIKAS MAN, WE BOTH KNOW EACH OTHER AND HAVE BEEN GOING TO VISIT TOGETHER EVERY WEEKEND. MY MAN IS ALSO WAITING FOR TRANSFER JUST LIKE MONIKAS, HES BEEN WAITING SINCE 8-5-02. HES STILL THERE. THEY ARE SAYING MAYBE CORCORON. WHICH IS NOT THAT MUCH FARTHER THAN WASCO. HOPEFULLY THAT WILL BE THE CASE, JUST LIKE MONIKA IM GETTING FRUSTRATED WITH THE ONE HOUR VISIT, HES BEEN LOCKED UP SINCE 4-13-02.

HI MONIKA, WHATS UP?

YEAH!!! The day has finally arrived and my baby has been transferred!! They moved him to Pleasant Valley State Prison which isn't too far~ So now I'm waiting for him to get processed again which they said takes about a month so now the countdown begins to when I get my contact visit~ I'm gonna actually get to hug and kiss him!! Yeah! I am so excited!! Does anyone have an useful info about that prison like about how visiting is and all that other good stuff?

Monika that's great! I think that Dede posted somewhere that her man was transferred to Pleasant Valley too! You can still carpool! By the way, sometimes you can still visit during classification...but the visit might be really short and I think they're all non contact, but you'll still get to see him! Call up to PVSP and see if they'll allow visits for you.

Hi!
I am new here. My ol man is in wasco too. Waiting to be classified. They have lockdown 23 1/2 hours a day, no visits. He has been there qaalmost 2 months. They still dont have his C file to his counslor. After he is classified then do we get visits? how long does it take to be transferred out after being classified? at the mainline prison he goes to I hear he will be on lock down untill he is classified there also? he is doing a 6 month violation. I hope he can go to CMC cause thats only 5 miles from where I live. BUT I think they will send he someplace icky and far away. I havent seen him scincy county jail that was 3 months ago. It a horrible adjustment having him gone, no phone calls or visits yet. He has to get "Classified first. He is a 2 striker so I think they will send him to a much harder prision than CMC. How long did it take your loved ones to get out of Wasco reception? When were you able to visit or get phone calls?

Wendy~
My man was in Wasco for about 2 months and while in reception you don't get any phone calls! As soon as he gets into mainline he will be able to use the phone. You get your visits as soon as you get your visiting approval. You say that your man is doing a 6 month violation... well you already have 3 months of time served from county. If your man is a level 1 or 2 they might just keep him at Wasco because it would be useless to transfer him to another prison. If you have any other questions feel free to ask I've become an expert of Wasco visiting!

Wendy -

First of all, WELCOME TO PTO! :)

I'm glad you joined our family!

Eric's knows quite a bit about Wasco as does Dede...Others I'm sure are familiar with Wasco as well. I'm familiar with Mens Central Jail in Los Angeles, North Kern State Prison in Delano (not far from Wasco) and Centinela State Prison in Imperial.

Any questions or anything like that, feel free to ask or comment or just play around :) This is a great site for all of the above! :)

Hi Eric' Princess
I called Wasco Visiting this morning, The recording said you have to maake an appointment for visiting?
I got my visiting approval form approved. My question is, If he has not been classified yet can he get visits? If so, whats up with the appointment stuff? did you have to do that? The recording said they only make appointments on monday through wed. how long are the visits if he has not been c lassified? Are thay contact visits?

Wendy, the appointments are only for Administrative Segregation inmates.

I got hour visits at Delano...behind glass....while my friend was up there for RC.

Wendy~
You only have to make appts. if he is in ad seg. If he isn't you can just go over there and get your visit. The recording says those in reception but it's an error. I got 1 hr. booth visits. If your man gets into mainline then you get contact visits. Be sure to dress approapriately because they will send you back~ and always bring extra clothes.
