My husband was granted a FI-6 from the Texas Parole Board. He will be going to Drug Treatment in January 2005 then home in July 2005. My honey has heard the prison horror stories.

My husband is a speed addict and pot user. This will be the first time since he was 15 (he is 40 now) that pot or other drugs can't be part of his life. He is having (I call them withdrawal dreams) dreams of his buddies shooting him up; when he has those dreams he says he don't want to wake up and face the real world.

Though my years with Al-Anon, I know this addiction is a program he will have to work and succeed at. I love him but this is one thing he has to do for himself. I will be there to support him.

Any words of wisdom???

I think actually you have all the wisdom you need because you know he is the one that has to get threw this to succeed. What you do need of course is support and know that there will always be support here for you. Hang in there, I know its been a long road for you. Be strong and I hope Al-Anon is a great help for you. Any time you need help just let us know and you can always PM if you want to talk privately.

those dreams are very common in early recovery. i've been clean and sober 7 years now, and i still remember the vivid dreams. i had one one time that i was at pizza hut, and the salad bar was a dope bar instead...had everything a person could possibly want to get high on instead of all the veggies and croutons...i haven't had one in years now. i wish you both well on this journey
