My husband got sentenced to 2 yrs. in Aug. of 2003. When I called the parole board they said he wouldn't be considered until October 2004, but to check back in about 60 days. If he is not eligible for parole until October then why check back in 60 days? I don't understand that and why would he have to do 14 months of a 2 year sentence?

Aww sorry to hear that. I DEFINITELY know how you feel!
I found out some news like that last week.
My fiance was sentenced to 7 years. He has to do 1/3. This year will be the completion of his 1/3. He was expecting to be out by the summer. I contacted the parole board and asked him why he doesn't have a tpm and he's been in prison for so dang on long. Well the people at the parole board told me that he should receive a tpm within the next 4-6 months ( :pissed: ) and that he is not even ELIGIBLE for parole until AUGUST 2005. Now what kind of sense does that make???
I totally know how you feel. And if you need to vent i'm here!

I understand and feel your frustration. My guy was sentenced in Sept 03 to 5 serve 3. At first we were told that he would be home by the end of March or April. No one contacted us until this month and they said that they were just doing a pre-parole check for residency. So they haven't started the official investigation for parole.
I'm having a hard time right now coping with all the ups and downs. I'm trying to get my head on straight. Do either of you understand or know about TPM? On the web they say that TPM is set 8-10 months after he is put into the state system. Does thay mean that they don't count all the months he sat in dekalb? (4 months)
It's so hard to continue on day to day sometimes. I just feel like if I had a TPM to goal myself towards then maybe the hope of him being home would help to carry me through.
Good luck to you guys. PM me if you want.

B dancer,
i too was discouraged when I read that on the GDC website about TPM.
My fiance' sat in Cherokee Co. jail from june 13 - january 8 waiting for his transfer to state. It's totally ridiculous. he just finished his diagnostic & classification at Jackson and now he's at Roger SP. I have emailed the parole board as of last week but still no answer. You can bet your butt I will be on the phone this week! He was sentenced to a 3 do 1.... 1 year will be this june, plus they told him he would be credited 2 for 1 days for the first two months he sat in jail before they even got him into the calendar for his sentencing. If they had credited him appropriately, that would make his1 year equal to 10 months with his credit for the first two months he sat in there before sentencing, which would put him home in April. But for some reason, no one can give me a straight answer. It's very frustrating.
At least we all can relate and support each other!!!
hang int here girls!!!
