HI! MY NAME IS LAURA J. COVEY. I FEEL LIKE MY HUSBAND MR. H. DEWAYNE COVEY WASN'T GIVEN A FAIR CHANCE ON HIS PAROLE. MR. SHIPMAN SAID HE WAS TEACHING MY HUSBAND A LESSON. I FEEL THAT MY HUSBAND SHOULD BE GIVEN A CHANCE IN AN ENVIROMENT THAT WOULD BETTER SUIT HIS SITUATION. NO ONE CONSIDERS THE FACT THAT THIS MAN HAS SPENT MOST OF HIS ADULT LIFE LOCKED UP IN BARBARIC CONDITIONS AND UPON RELEASE IS GIVEN NOTHING MORE THAN 100.00 DOLLARS AND A BUS TICKET!... I'M ASKING TDCJ AND THE PAROLE BOARD WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR HIM WHILE HE IS THERE AND WHAT DID YOU MAKE AVAILABLE TO HIM AFTER RELEASE? AN IMATE HAS TO SPEND ALOT OF TIME IN CUSTODY TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR ANY EDUCATIONAL CLASSES. THIS MAN HAS SPENT ENTIRELY TOO MUCH TIME INCARCERATED AND SHOULD BE GIVEN SOME SOCIAL SKILLS OUTSIDE OF PRISON SOMETHING TO BASE HIS FUTURE ON. THE SYSTEM IS NOT SUPPLYING ANYTHING TO USE OUTSIDE THOSE FENCES BUT EXCUSES TO NOT BECOME A BETTER PRODUCTIVE PERSON! -LAURA J.COVEY

Laura- I am sorry that your husband did not make parole. i know the two of you must be very frustrated and upset about the decision that was made. Is there anyway to appeal the decison> I really do not know that much about parole. When will he be up for parole again?
I'm so sorry to hear this Laura...
You're very understandably frustrated. I do hope that there is some sort of appeal process you can go through(as Sherri said...I also do not know anything about that). It sounds like you have some valid ratinal points for "someone" to consider. Let us know if you can appeal the decision and what comes of it.
my prayers are with you, i am sorry to hear that your hubby did not make parole.

Can't help you too much withthe TX system Laura, although there are a lot here that can. You may also want to check with PRUP - Prison Reform Unity Project in Yahoo groups. They may have some knowledge for you. In the mean time I will pray that your husband is given the proper consideration for parole. This "just say NO" attitiude of all the prisons in almost every state has got to go!!

I totally agree with you Laura that the prison system doesnt give any tools to succeed in the outside environment butI also believe that we can do anything we set our mind to....when I was angry that Stephen would not be coming home when we expected my mother said something to me that has helped...she said " stephen isnt coming home yet cause the cake isnt done"...So I really feel that no matter what he needs to change his heart to get his life on track andI will be there to support him...now that i have totally rambled on my advice to you is if there is soem way to appeal do it otherwise start preparing for the next time he comes up...and support your husband...you both will be in my prayers ..tell your husband to keep his head up, things will get better!

Laura,I am sorry that your husband did not make parole. I have been there with my husband. As a x-officer and now married to a inmate I have had my share of heartache dealing with tdcj.Stay focused. God will bring him home when he is ready.

Laura, I'm so sorry your husband didnt' make parole. The DOC, in any state really, doesn't see that they should offer more stuff for when people get out of there... I dont' know that they really even care.
I'm keeping you and your husband in my prayers.
