Anybody up for a TExas get together? or is TExas too big to even think of it? IT would be nice to get to meet all of you and it doesnt have to be a formal thing or anything...jus wondering since a couple other states have had em.........

Since we're all from different areas, lets try to pick a central location so we can all have about the same driving distance.(Is that possible in Texas?) lol! PEACE!

OK so where is the most nuetral place? I ma all the way on the bottom by Mexico...and the farthset north I have been so far is Houston (not too far I know)
smfrg- I guess it all depends on where it is and I figure if we are all going to be doing a good amount of driving we should least get a whole days worth right?? let's all brainstorm and see what we can come up with....let's put all opur ideas here and see where we end up-----I have no problem making all the arrangements (whatever they may be) but I am not that good at the coming up with ideas portion of all this---also I am pretty new to Texas and dont know much outside of my little area down here.....all I know is it should be very simple and not too expensive for anyone to get to and be just a tiem for us to get together and meet eachother and get to know eachother a little better ( alright I was just jealous that other states were meeting and we weren't...lol) so through out some dates and places and let's see what we comeup with ..I think someone suggested Ausitn or San Antonio ( I am partial to San Antonio cause it isnt too far from me....lol) but let's see where the majority is coming from and what is the most practical....some of us could even carpool to save....I am not sure where Austin is ..is that between San Antonio and Houston kind of?

Well I've been looking at a map of our great state........and I think San Antonio would be the best place. Houston is too far East and Dallas/Fort Worth is too far North. Austin is more "central" but San Antonio is bigger and would have more obtainable accomodations for anyone who needs it. I've been to both San Antonio and Austin many many times and San Antonio has more things to "do" lol. And San Antonio is also closer for you Amelia (my grandmother lives in Pharr so I know how that drive is).
Would this be a Saturday or Sunday thing? I am more able to attend on a Sunday.
Do we need to set a date first then see who can show up or should everyone post their ideas on the date and go from there?
Sorry if I seem a little anxious........I don't get out much lol. Just to see my husband on the weekends and my weekly trip to Wal-mart.
If it's ok with everyone I can generate a list of places to stay and eat and things to do within a reasonable price range. I myself will be staying overnight (if it is held on a Sunday).
Let me know and I'll start working on this........I love doing this stuff!!!!

OK I've been sittin here thinking........what if we could find a place and get together for a good ole fashioned bar-b-que? We could have things for our kiddos to do ( i have two and will have to bring them with me), food and some music or something. Just a thought. Can y'all tell I'm bored and need something to do????? Does someone have a big enough house or like in my small town the church has a hall it rents out for cheap and you get most of the money back if you clean the place up. Just some thoughts :)

I think Austin and San Antonio are both good places.. About 45 minutes apart. I think Austin is much nicer and can accomodate just about anything we can throw at it. I think we need to determine where everone is coming from when deciding on either of these two places.. Both of them are about 2 hours from me and an easy drive..

I am located in College Station, Texas.. about an hour and a half north west of Houston. Lets here where your from and how long you think it will take to get to either Austin or San Antonio.

My son is not in a Texas prison...Federal in Minnesota but from Texas. If you are meeting in San Antonio...count me in. <<<no good at planning but Saturday or Sunday is okay. Sure wished I had a huge house but I live in a tiny place. I will check back to keep up on the planning.

anyhow, NO LATER than the second weekend in November due to the upcoming holidays. and we don't want to interfere with visitations which is why we need input on the dates. I am just west of Houston so San Antonio or Austin is no big deal to me, but Amelia is in Mission and that's way down there. San Antonio would be closer for her. I'm usually 45 miles west of Forth Worth on Saturdays so either one of those places can be an easy detour on my way home.

I think Austin would be great I am in Dallas gee i had a house in san antonio that we sold about 1 yr ago we used to go there quite a bit and just visit san antone that would have been a perfect place for a gathering it was never occupied when we had it it belonged to grandma...wherever it is held count me in i would love to be included and get to meet everyone..wow how exciting....it will be fun....

Count me in!! This would be a wonderful idea. A bbq out on the lake would be nice. There is a lake on the South side of San Antonio. Amelia you could stop by my house on the way and we could go together. I'm half way between the valley and SA. Sound good?? Just a thought.

Hi everyone.... I don't think I've ever posted in the Texas forum before... Mainly because I've only been here for about 6 months and I know absolutely nothing about the system here in Texas. But, I have recently started writing to a friend of a friend here in Beaumont... So, now i'm gonna start hangin' out here more.
Anywho... I think a get together is a great idea... I'd love to meet some of the people from PTO. I live right outside of Austin, but San Antonio isn't too far... Either way, sounds like a great idea....

Well....I am 6 hours from Austin now...I lived there up about a year or so ago! I am proud to say that I am a Texas Ex----HOOK EM' HORNS!!!!! Anyways, I don't see any possible way to visit my husband in Palestine(3 hours from here)...drive to Austin...then the 6 hours back home. Is there a 3 day weekend coming up anytime soon? Because that would make it feasible for me.

WE VERY MUCH ENJOYED OUR LITTLE VISIT. WE HAD ABOUT 6 HOURS TOGETHER. WE TALKED ABOUT A LITTLE OF EVERY THING BUT WE DID NOT HAVE A FORMAL MEETING PER SE. WE JUST WANTED TO GET TOGETHER TO MEET AND LEARN ABOUT EACH OTHER. IT WORKED.

WE WANT TO HAVE ANOTHER SOON. WE HAVE ADDED QUITE A FEW NC PEOPLE LATELY AND I AM HOPING THAT MORE WILL COME.

I suggested 12:00 because some of you have expressed concerns on going home too late.

I also suggested the Alamo to meet at because it is a well known place that is basically easy to find for everyone. After we meet up we can go from there--although we should have a tentative plan of what to do after we all meet up (where to eat and what else we will do if anything)...let me know what you all think!

I'll be there for sure.. ;) Alamo sounds good to me.. :)

Okay Guys, I need help! I went to MAPQUEST.com to get directions to the Alamo. I entered "ALAMO" in the "PLACE OF INTEREST." The results showed a bunch of block ranges on Alamo St, Alamo Blvd, Alamo Dr, etc. No directions to the Alamo. I guess I need an address of some sort to get directions. Help!! PEACE!

Well this has been the week that shouldn't have been. Our fiscal year has ended, we were short handed all week long, I haven't had time to gather my stuff for the auditor fighting city council and the system was down most of the day Thursday just to name a few. I'm going to end up working this weekend. I am so far behind and I need this ready by next week. I work well under pressure but all of this, personal and work, is really starting to break me. I don't sleep, don't eat all that much either anymore. I feel like I am losing more of it every day. I just got this high faloutin job and I'm having to prove myself to some members on council. I tell ya'll I really am losing it. Not gonna go postal or anything I promise. I just find myself breaking down every day now and I though I had toughened up. Did anyone else go through stages like this? Or am I really going bonkers.

You guys have a good time and take pictures. I can make the College Station get together. When in March is that going to be by the way.

PS. There was a pretty interesting car show going on in front of the Alamo.. At the end of our gtg, the Ferrari was waiting for me.. (Wish I could have driven it home, but my key didn't fit! - Don't think I didn't try!)

I just want to say that I had such a great time!! I haven't laughed so much in so long...I almost peed my pants many times!!

Hey everyone...I had a great time on Sunday! It was worth the drive (even in the rain) to meet everybody!

Amelia, you are such a sweetheart and "yes" next time we will take time to hit the mall. I'm sure they have one in College Station! :) I was also impressed at how fast you can down those drinks!!

Christine you made me laugh the whole time. Make sure you tell your honey about your daughter in the picture with him. And next time lets wait 10 minutes before you take charge! :) haha

JER and Jack you two make a great couple! And what beautiful children you have! It was fun to meet both of you. But next time could you stop following us around S.A.?! :)

I'm glad we had such a good time and I'm really looking forward to March now!!
