CET 03-07-2004, 07:02 PM Call that prison and ask to talk to someone who can answer the question. The rules vary a lot state to state. hopefiend 03-07-2004, 07:20 PM i order from amazon. i always buy used books because their cheaper. there is also a prison book program: www.prisonbooks.org in some states, you can mail books directly to the institution, but i don't know what states those are. good luck to u. felion 03-08-2004, 04:17 AM Barnes and Noble.com are also very good for books for inmates. They sell off a lot of books and also do secondhand books of everyking, including law books. Good Luck. felion 03-08-2004, 04:18 AM I meant of everything, not king, sorry! PalmviewPrincess 03-15-2004, 10:17 AM I usually send my bf books from the store Hastings, but you have to have Hastings send it to them otherwise they wont receive it if you send it. If you have a Hastings over where you live let them know, all you do is give them the address. They send it over to the prison. :) BERTITAL3 03-16-2004, 03:00 PM Can someone please tell me how to order books for an inmate? HI DEAR. I USE BARNES@NOBLES. some of them for a ftlat fee of about 4.00 send your books, you can also buy used ones. for science fiction books, i use www.sfbc,com (http://www.sfbc,com) for magazines: magazineline, you can choose 100's of them. from playboy to national geography. 1 800/551-1560, i hope this will help you. i have some more!!!!! good luck CET 03-20-2004, 08:28 PM call the prison and check out the rules. In missouri you can't send books at all, other states as well. In Ca you can send out new books only from a book dealer, publisher. Then in IL you can send used paperbacks from home. I go to amazon.com and send books. A lot of times if you order $25 or over, the shipping is free. And at borders it is 50 cents additional books after the first one. Be sure to send by us post office only, not fed ex. I have sent a lot of books, and chosen the cheapest method, and a lot of times it is mailed a lot sooner than when they promise. be sure they are paperbacks! I have called a prison, and they didn't even mention that! I wasted $45 sending my foster son a very nice bible. |
