I decided to take the advise of others and start a thread for all of us who have a loved one in a Idaho prison to get to know each other. If you have been in a Idaho prison or know someone who is then please take a few minutes to tell a little about yourself and get to know others.

My name is Tanya and my fiancee is currently housed at Idaho Falls Community Work Center in Idaho Falls. Before his transfer to the work center he was at Idaho Correctional Center here in Boise. He became parole eligable December 2003, but doesnt max out untill 2011. We feel that this could be the year that he is released for parole, but if not then I will be there as long as it takes.

What a good idea! :)

I'm Kelly. My fiance is in the Idaho State Correctional Institution here in Boise right now. He was sentenced to a 6 month rider, and flopped it so now he will be eligible for parole on December 8th, 2005. His max out date is December 7th, 2010, so HOPEFULLY he can get out on parole before then!!

I have quite a few friends in other Idaho prisons. I have a bunch of friends up in Cottonwood (NICI), several in ISCI with my fiance, and a couple in SICI. I also have a couple lady friends in SBWCC in Kuna. Don't I have lovely friends??? hehe ;)

I'm Angi. My fiance Daniel is in IMSI right now. He is eligible for parole in Dec 2012.
He has been gone for 1 1/2 years. We have 2 kids and live 220 miles from Boise so it has been tough but I am not giving up on us. I will stand by him forever.

Hi, I'm Chris-- My boyfriend is in IMSI; has been in the prison system for 5 1/2 years and tops his time in 11/2008--he has no chance at parole so we have to wait until his top out date. I live way up in North Idaho so it's about an 8 1/2 drive to visit him--which I try to do about once a month-yeah my car has racked up the miles considering I've drove the drive for the last 5 1/2 years!!! I'm hoping maybe I'll meet other women at PTO that also live in NOrth Idaho and they have loved ones also in prison in Boise and maybe someday would be interested in carpooling down there.:)

Hi My son is still in TF County awaiting transfer to RDU and placement. Its a very hard time for us. He is eligible parole date is 7/17 and max date 7/34. I ve tried to visit him
but so far always been denied even tho hes been there 7 months. We do send him books, and letters and take phone calls. Does anyone know if he will be able to call us collect once moved out of county and how expensive it will be. We spent most of our resources on his defense. Thanks for the support Mom in pain!

Hi, my fiancee just got moved to ISCI. He is not sure if they will be keping him there yet or not. He is serving a 30yr sentance, possible parole in 15. I am new to the system as well. Yes he can call collect to another Country, and I guess it would depend on the country. I am visitin my family in Canada and depending on the time of day, it costs $3.40 to connect and 69-89 cents a min after that. Also if anyone has any info on how to go about getting married while they are in there, and do you at least get some sort of conjical visit when you get married while they are in, or at all at ISCI, could you please let me know. Thank You

Welcome to PTO!!

Idaho doesnt have conjical visits. As far as getting married he needs to request a marriage packet from the chaplin. Once the paperwork is filled out the chaplin will talk to you and submit the paperwork to the warden for approval

[B]Hello
I have done a Rider .. It was such a joke but it beat going to one of the prisons...Ive been on Probation since Dec 2001.. My crime was Domestic Burglary...(broke in my house to tell my now ex wife I loved her..NO Volence)...Im now living in North Carolina.. Its been hard having a Felony on my record...I worked in the IT field as a Programmer.. With this felony I can't pass the Background Checks...grrrrrrr!!!!....Other than that my probation is going pretty good... I had to take a DV class which ended in June...MY PO tells me that he is going to contact Idaho so that I can either have my probation non-supervised.. or terminated all together...OFF PAPER!!!...Then hopefully I can have it Expunged.... Having a felony on your record is pretty bad....Society looks at you like you have the plague....Although Ive never been in trouble before in my life... Im 43...None of that matters...My first wife died sometime back so im rasing my children alone.. my son is 16 and daughter is 11.. Im not making close to what I was making before all this...and I wonder if I ever will... I know most of you say at least im not on the inside looking out...But is sucks when you are on the OUTSIDE looking OUT....Im not bitter about what has happend ..What kicks me in the head is the system...How they give a person a felon.. kick them back on the streets.. tell them.. Get a job or go back inside.... No body wants to hire you because your a felon.. So your caught up in the loop....God it sucks.....Im luck now.. I have a job at a church.. I wont make lots of money.. but im surrounded by great people...From what I see.. most of the members here are women and other family members who are waiting on their loved one..You are the strong ones...Your supports is so important...Although I was only in for 6 months my family was back east so I wasnt able to have visits...So if you can visit your love one.. please do... for me ..ok!!! I say that because...It was good seeing the guys come back from their visits.. after they might have held their children... or whomever..Well thats all I have for now.... The next time I will tell you about my experience's while At RDU and Cottonwood!!!

My name is Wendi and my fiancee is at IMSI. He tops out next August, so I am very excited about that. If he can stay out of trouble he will hit the Boise work center in March. I live in Boise, so I get to see him every weekend - which is really nice.

Hello everyone,

My name is Karin, I live and work in Washington, DC and have a penfriend at IMSI in Idaho, Mark Lankford whom I hope to visit at the end of this year, or early next year.

Mark is sentenced to death and has been in prison for nearly 20 years. Due to administrative changes, he was removed from near total isolation this spring and can now mingle with the general population prisoners.

I have been in Idaho to Idaho Fall, which was just wonderful.

Hey, I have a boyfrined in the Ada County Jail right now, he was just arrested for robbery of the Dairy Queen with two others. It was on the news and all that crap. But anyways his sentencing is on the 9th and he'll probably get 6 months or more at the RIDER in Cottonwood. Since he can only call for 30 mins. at a time I cant get all the details on this RIDER thing. So someone please tell me...I heard if you do a RIDER you get double the time..is that still correct? Just give me all the info. you know about the Cottonwood RIDER place..Im clueless to this whole jail/prison thing.
Im having an extremly tough time w/o my boy and hearing some of the stories on here and how this person has 30 years or life or whatever makes 6 months seem like nothing! But it's still hard...:(

Hi I'm Lynn..My husband is currently at Nampa CWC :) He was just transferred there 2 wks ago and can't stop smiling over the much improved quality of life he has now. He got a 3 yr fixed; no parole once he's out and "our" out date is 5/31/2006..It still feels like forever but I'll be here..

Hello all. I just happened upon this site one late night and it has been nothing but help and support. Even though I haven't posted much reading what others had said is still supportive. My fiance is in IMSI at the present time. He will top out April of 2010. He has already done his fixed and is eligible for parole in April of 2005. Hopefully all goes well and he will get out shortly after that. I have spent enough time with out the love of my life. We met while in Junior High. We are each others first and final love. I think that is about all right now. Thanks.

Hello. My name is Claudia and I have a brother and a close friend who are both at SICI. My brother tops out in 2009 and my friend tops in 2007. My brother did some time at Cottonwood and then got out and as you can all see now he is back in. This is my friends second time in. He got out (he had topped) for almost a year and messed up. They are both doing really good now. I hope to get to go see them soon.

Hello...I just found out a couple days ago that a cousin of mine is in ISCI!! So I'm here to introduce myself. I also post in other forums as I have a dear lifer-friend in Santa Fe, NM. Wow, what a surprise to hear my cousin was locked up. I feel so bad for him. Anyway, just thought I'd say HI and I'll post now and then. This forum seems to be a little quiet, much like the New Mexico one.

Thank you TNC and Suni--it's always nice to feel welcomed! :) I hope some day in the near future to make a visit to my cousin. Perhaps I can take one of my sisters along with me! It's been a few years since I last saw my cousin. What a way to visit though...locked up. But at least I know he's okay, since I haven't heard from him in forever! Only recently did I find out where he was, and I've written him a letter. I hope he writes soon!!! He and I used to get along really well!! Talk soon...

I've been a member of PTO for awhile now, but I'm usually posting in the Florida forum because my fiance is incarcerated in that state. However, I am on probation right now :( I got in trouble in Florida but was able to transfer probation up here to Idaho. Idaho is my home state and although I don't really know much about the prisons here, I'm hoping to learn more about them and the Idaho DOC in general.

Well, I thought I had posted here, but I must of posted somewhere else. Well my fiancee has been gone for 11 months, doing time at SICI. We still have 2 years to go, but we are really hoping that he will be able to get on a work release...Crossing our fingers. If he does, he will be closer to home. Closer to me, and closer to our little girl.

 My name is Kim and my man Shawn is at ISCI in Boise STILL, after 5 months waiting for an onsite hearing to determine what they intend to do about revoking his parole. He has been incarcerated this time since May and has been on the yard at ISCI since early August and still hasn't had his onsite or a revoke hearing and has already been sentenced on his new charges. Since nothing remarkable has gone on as far as getting him moved off the yard and he is nearing his reclassificarion date already, it looks like my son and I are going to end up moving down there from where we currently are in Spokane so that we can be closer and I can see him more. I haven't seen him in just about a year now and I think that I am the one this time that is serving out this sentence.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

welcome aboard My man is at ISCI and has been for nearly a year now. I just got to see him on Valentine's Day for the first time since last January. I live in Spokane, and am planning to move down there, but I need to come find a house first and don't know anyone hardly in Boise, so it seems to be slow going. If I can't check for replies here (and sometimes I AM slow) you can email me if you'd like email removed per PTO policy

My name is Christina. My husband is at ICIO in Orofino. He is eligible for parole May 15, 2009. I live in North Idaho and the drive to see him is about 4 hours. He was in Boise and I could'nt get to visit him there, but when he arrived in Orofino I went ASAP and what a trip to give him a hug and hold his hand after more than 2 years!!! I am getting excited about him coming home, 9 months now! He doesn't top out until 2015, so thats a little scary, but he's doing really good and has done his programming and works outside the prison most of the time and is fighting his third fire of the summer. I love and miss him very much!!

We have been together for almost a year now (nov 12th is our anniversary) and wat really sucks is for the year we have been together we have only actually gotten to be together with him out of jail for about 2 months. It really sucks having this kind of relationship but i wouldnt trade him for anyone else though. His parole date is Jan 12, 2011. so here is to hoping. He has been in boise for about 6 months now and hasnt gotten into any trouble so im uber proud of him. He got 3 years fixed with 15 years of probation after that so idk wats gonna happen.

Hey. My name is Jesse and my fiance is in Shoshone County waiting to get transported to the prison for a parole hearing. We have no idea what is going to happen yet and I think that not knowing is the hardest part. It is his first violation but he has seven years over his head. Either way, I'm waiting. I hope to talk to some people who are in similar situations and maybe get some questions answered.

My son is currently at ISCI waiting to be sent to Cottonwood for a second Rider. He was there once before and released in May 2005. He got through it the first time but was so adament that didn't believe he could do it a second time and would rather go to prison to complete his remaining 1 1/2 years of probation. The judge didn't see it this way and I've since learnt that Cottonwood has changed since 2007. Would anyone know how it's changed other than they focus primarily on substance users? He was first up there due to meth but is being sent back due to drinking beer while on probation. Back then it was a one time deal. Apparently this has changed too. Plus last time it took a month to even get there and then a month to get released so he actually served 8 months. It's a horrific life being encapulsed within the system.
Any response will be appreciated.

Hello,
I am a private Case Manager and have been working with offenders for over 10 years. I facilitate Classes and set up re-entry plans. I help the family through the procces of re-entry. Having people in the prison system can be hard to understand at times. With the budget and the case loads gettting bigger it is harder to get people out. GOOD Luck
