My son was just sentence in Id 15-30. We are verry new to system! Does anyone know where he might serve his time? He was told in jail that due to his long sentence he will be in max and spend 23 hrs daily in cell with no chance for any couseling, classes etc?? Can this be true?? I was hoping for Orofino and help for him. Please respond if you can share inf MOM IN PAIN:wave:

I think that a lot of it depends on the nature of his crime. I dont think that the jail knows what the heck their talking about. I wouldnt let what them scare you and get you all worried. I dont know much about Idaho Maximum Security Institution, but my advise is that your son makes sure he tells his counslers that he wants to take as many classes and programs that he can.

When he first gets to IMSI they will do a scale type paper on him they get so many points for their offense if they are repeat if they have history of anger fighting and so on. The higher the points then the harder it is to get transferred. As far as 23 hours in lock down my fiance was in there a week maybe which is part of procedure until they figure out where to place you. But in IMSI they also can be moved to different blocks and have opportunity to work in kitchen and other areas i believe. My fiance works in the kitchen they have to sign up for jobs. but this helps lower your points so that they can move him. Daniel is serving 10-20 years and they do give 1-2 point for longer sentences. I hope this helps ease your mind a little and maybe gives you some hope. They get to go outside and play football and they have other things to do but if he gets a job it gives him something to do.
