A self initiated progress report commonly known as a SIPR is an appeal to the boards last decision. The first SIPR can be filed 6 months after the boards decison then only once a year thereafter. It is a total of 4 sheets and no more. In this packet you can included letters, but they still must fall within the 4 sheet limit. For this review any letters send in from a outside party directly to the board wont be accepted. Once the packet is submitted then the board will review it in a executive session and notify the inmate if a hearing date has been granted. If a hearing date was denied then the inmate must wait a year to file the next SIPR.

Example

revok hearing is Jan 1st 2004
1st SIPR request July 1st 2004
Next SIPR request July 1st 2005

A SIPR can be filed after any regular board hearing. If the inmate has a regular hearing and is denied parole and his next sceduled hearing isn't for 5 years that doesnt' mean he has to wait 5 years to be heard. He can follow the above procedure and submitt a SIPR

SIPR decisions can be found at http://www2.state.id.us/parole/

As long as he is parole eligable then he should be able to get a packet from his case manager.
