After being moved to the "archives" for some time, the PTO Live Chat Support Forum is now open again.
The main reason for this is PTO now is supporting an integrated live chat within the PTO website available by clicking on the "Chat" button at the top of every page, or you may use the following link to get there:

PTO does not support chat, nor has it in quite some time, at PrisonChat.net. That is a completely different site so please do not ask any technicle or other questions regarding that.
For those of you who are curious about what happend to PrisonChat.net; it was sold off because it was just too much to manage PTO and that site at one time. While it is a good and viable platform, it was hard to tell who was from PTO and who was not. Worse, it was hard to apply the policies and rules of PTO to a site that was completely seperate from PTO. Most of you either know, or probably have heard that we are very serious at PTO about keeping it clean, respectful and supportive. With live chat it is even more of a challenge. All in all, it was a good plan but it didn't work out so well the way it was setup.
The new chat system that we are now using interfaces with the members database here. That means if you are not a registered member at PTO, you are not going to be able to get into the chat room. Your password for the forums is the same password that you will use to get into the chat.
The new system actually costs a yearly fee to use, and the cost of it shows they are proud of their system, but it is a feeling that is warranted and deserved. They have dedicated private servers that are used rather than public IRC servers that are not nearly as secure for what we want here.
We also have a whole lot of options that will be implemented in the near future. We can have sub-rooms that are password protected and much more. For "abuse" protection, I have complete logs emailed to me every night of the conversations that take place in the live chat room that I also have real-time access to. If someone is abusing others or violating PTO policies, I now have the ability to quickly investigate it. This definitely isn't something that I like to do, as I have limited time, but when there is a dispute in chat, it can be hard to run down..
Ok.. I think I have said enough for now.. I'm glad to see that the chat room is already going strong and many people are taking ad***tage of it.
I'll add to this later.. It's getting late.. Or early, depending on how you look at it.
