However, please DO NOT post your loved ones full name, housing location or anything else that identifies them directly. If you want to share this personal information with others, we recommend that you do it via PM's.
I hope you all enjoy the new forum. Many thanks should go to Barbara and those that pushed to have it opened.. Now lets see some activity! :)

justvicki 03-05-2004, 02:38 AM Hi!
My name is Vicki, and my fiancee has been at San Quentin since August 2002. I do not know a lot about the facility on a first hand basis, but I hope to be a constant visitor there in the next few months. I will be returning to California soon, and hopefully Guy and I will be married in June.
Eric's Homegirl 03-05-2004, 08:44 AM Hi my name is Suzi and my husband is at San Quentin State Prison, and has been since
December 1st,04. From what I have read on other websites, SQ is 150 years old, the
oldest prison in California. It once housed female inmates. And has a death row housing
for the condemned. My husband says that the place is dirty, loud and disgusting, and
cold inside. "That one can hardly hear themselves think because of the noise level. They are allowed to take showers 2-3 times a week. The same with getting out on the
yard in reception. The prison itself doesn't look like any prisons I have seen, this one
looks like regular housing in a neighborhood, until you see a guard tower in the landscaping.

justvicki 03-05-2004, 02:52 PM FYI
Guy told me this morning that SQ has extended family packages for one more quarter (April 1 - June 30).
OmoOsun 03-05-2004, 04:53 PM Hi
My name is Dee, I'm from London, England. My soulmate is on death row at San Quentin. I was completely lost until I discovered this website, since I know nothing about the prison. I love the supportive family feel here, and it is good to know that I am not alone. I'm hoping to visit him in a few months once I'm approved.
Dee
OmoOsun
Snapdragon 03-07-2004, 12:38 AM My friend is also on DR. He has also mentioned something about the quarterly packages, but didn't go into detail. So what do you mean thay have extended it for one more quarter? Then what?
Thanks for the sub-forum Barabra and all who worked so hard to make it happen.
Andi
I would think she means you may still send in a package that you have shopped for rather than go through a vendor. You need to have him send you a package list so that you will know what he wants and what he can have. I am not to familiar with the rule at SQ so someone will be here soon to tell you more. Love Barb

CSunshyn 08-22-2004, 11:45 AM My guy is on DR in SQ. I don't know all the ropes, but I know some so I could maybe help a litlte about some questions. I know that this package you speak of has a 30lb weight limit on it... my guy usually asks for food -haha because you know the food there is lacking! He just got his appeals lawyer (been waiting since 99) it's been a forever process, but maybe something will come of this! *HUGS* to all of you.
IceBlueSparkle 08-31-2004, 07:13 PM Hello all :)
I introduced myself to the PTO but thought I would also say hi here. My M. is on death row at SQ. I am a newbie to this site...and am so thankful to have found it. It feels like a burden has been lifted...there are so many questions/issues I have and it feels good to know that there are others who can relate to my situation.
Best wishes to you all :)

FieldsofGold 12-03-2004, 07:26 PM Hey eveyone, My name is Eric and I am Eric's homegirl's husband. I served 4 hellish months at San Quentin State Prison in December 03, to March 04. I was
on west block for 35 days and then sent to the overflow section in the gym
at the prison till my release. Can' t say enough how happy I am to be out of
that chit hole. Of all the prisons I have done time in, San Quentin is the worst.
Loud, noisy, stinky, disgusting, gross etc.. the list is endless. If anyone needs
help with Reception for parole violators at San Quentin I can help.
Ricosgal 12-16-2004, 08:56 AM Hello I am just new here and my dearest friend has be in SQ for a month. I can't get to him. He will be on DR after this first phase. Or could he be there now? I know nothing about any of this.
HISVICTIMOFLOVE 12-21-2004, 08:32 PM  HELLO!!
I am a 46 yr old female living in the Bay Area, w/a man in reception at San Quentin !
After knowing several close Friends who have served 1 to 2 years for parole violations since 1996. I am now the girlfriend of a man who has spent the past 11 mos. in the county jail waiting to find out if he would recieve strikes on his priors before he was sentanced on a new case just 3 weeks ago. I figure we have just over 7 years left on the 10 year sentance he recieved. He arrived in reception at S.Q. around the 2nd or 3rd of this month.
I am already grateful for PTO and its members who I know I will be able to turn to when I am lost, and or frustrated w/the system that feels like I too am being punished, just for loving and being there for him.
;)

Sydney101 01-07-2005, 06:01 PM Heyho!
I just got myself a penpal on DR in SQ, and since I stumbled upon this site, I am trying to work my way through all the infos available here - and there are loads of it!

bonersgirl 01-14-2005, 11:44 AM My name is Irene and my fiance is currently at S.Q. doing a 30 day dry out, he should be home in a week I would like to say that I was so afraid when he went in and this website has helped me a lot in dealing with his absence. Thank You :)
butterflydazzel 01-19-2005, 04:13 PM Hi. Just want to introduce myself in this forum. I have a friend I have been writing to in SQ DR for some time and it has been a wonderful experience. I am an italian girl living in the Netherlands. In his last letter he asked me to visit him as I will be going to California in May. He sent me the form and I sent it in but I am getting progressively more and more worried.
I've heard it is very difficult to get consent. Is there something that I should be doing? Calling somebody? I am so far away that I am not sure who to contact or how to go about doing it. I have also heard that they are very strict with the clothing and that they can turn you away. I am starting to get really nervous. If there is anyone out there that could give some advice it is really welcome. With much thanks. It is a real comfort to have found PTO.

staregirl 01-27-2005, 12:05 PM Hi, I'm DeeDee and I had a penpal on DR when I was a late teenager-mid twenties. Then my life fell apart and I stopped writing him. It's been 10 years and I'm going to start writing him again so I thought I'd come here.

Cyndi1 03-18-2005, 12:26 PM I am corresponding with two DR pen pals. Both have ties to Ohio which is where I live. I am a social worker. I have always been fascinated with DR and how one survives in that situation. I am planning a trip there soon.

This is a great and helpful site-! I am trying to figure out all of the rules and regulations for SQ--I'm sure I will find them here~
:)
amazed 04-13-2005, 01:06 PM I just ran across this site as I was searching for info on why the phones have been taken away on San Quentin DR. My boyfriend has been there since 12/02 and I visit weekly (but, by visitor standings, I am still a newcomer!!). I am happy to have found a site where people are in a similar situation. It's never easy to have someone you love so much sitting there day after day. It's a very helpless feeling but does have it's rewards.

03 B&C 04-17-2005, 01:00 AM Hi All -
I just got the news tonight that my Fiance is being transfered to SQ next week. He's done 3 years and has a little over a year to go.
This is a long long long trip for me compared to the 2 hour drive I'm used to so I would like to here from some of you that come from Los Angeles. How so you do it? Drive or Fly? Where do you stay? How often do you go?
Any information you can give me would be grrrrrreat!
ezeva1 04-17-2005, 05:05 AM best is to fly to sanfrancisco, get a rental car at the airport, drive to san rafael, there are 2 motels days inn and next to it another one.from the motel turn left and go straight on till you see a curve, under thetunnel and turn immediatly left.5-10 min drive. from sf take 101 north over golden bridge exit san rafael.east boulevard. about 1 hour drive up there. motel costs about 50 dollar the night.when you return to sa 5 dollar toll for the bridge. god luck
03 B&C 04-17-2005, 05:12 AM How far is SQ from Oakland? I've been researching flights and it seems like flights from LA to OAK are cheaper.

We met in November '04 through an on-line prisoner pen pal site - I started writing him, as well as 4 other male pen pals. But ours has actually developed into a relationship.
His appeals are just about to begin, and he has two great attorneys, thank God!
fraulein 04-21-2005, 03:59 PM How far is SQ from Oakland? I've been researching flights and it seems like flights from LA to OAK are cheaper.
SF Airport is in San Bruno... I would say they are probably about as far away on opposite sides.
I have never been to Oakland airport, but I have heard that Southwest is the best deal.
SFO is way insane.. you might be better off going to Oakland...
LeBeau 04-28-2005, 08:13 PM Hi, I am so grateful to have found this place...a cherished friend is in Reception at SQ and I need so badly to be able to know a little about what he's facing. He was transported on 4/10 or 4/11, I just got a letter from him today (4/28) and he sounds good, but not at all thrilled with the noise level...he's a country bred sort, not at all used to that much volume unless it's coming from a stereo or a Harley :)
valalderton 05-24-2005, 11:47 AM Hello my name is Val and began be geing first a pen pal to my guy then after a couple of visits to sq we both realised we were falling in love with each other. I proposed to him valentines day of this year and at the moment we are going through the paperwork and details to get married as soon as possible. Living so far away I dont get to see him very often but this is down to the price of the airfare not distance. I am going through getting a degree in my work so that i will be able to live and work nearer to my guy, I never thought Id find love again but as they say you find love in the strangest of places. From over the Atlantic he feels the love I have for him and vice versa. I dont know what I can or cant wear for the wedding, if i can take flowers in what about the rings etc. oh panic - jittery bride to be here! Take care all of you, we share a common bond.

S.Q.Sunny 09-04-2005, 08:11 PM  Hi! My name is Sunny, and my sweetie has been on DR for 18 yrs. now - although I didn't know him until we started writing two-and a half yrs. ago, and then finally met each other in person last Sept. 19th. Now I'm there every weekend for my 2 hrs. "face time". We became penpals through a mutual friend & certainly had no intention of falling in love, both fought it every step of the way! We were "Bible Buddies" in that he was helping me with my prayers and such, guess God had something more in mind for us. Now that we've quit fighting our feelings, we're learning how to deal with the unique circumstances and problems of of being "Love, San Quentin Style"! His appeal is due to start soon, just got copy of Opening Brief to be filed.

shieldmaiden 01-13-2006, 08:51 AM Hi.........my name is Lorraine, from London, England. I also have a penpal/friend on DR who, I have to admit, I'm starting to get very close to. I'm so glad I have found his site as its comforting how people support each other here. There also appears to be a contingent of us from the United Kingdom who have pp's on DR. At least I know I'm not the only one from here over the 'pond'!!!

Hi the love of my life has been sentenced to four years in prison and as of right now is in Reception in SQ. It is very frustrating because he can not use a phone and our letters are 8 days between! He has been there for four months and still has not seen a counselor and as you know doesnt leave his cell. I went out this last Sat to see him and they told me he was off lockdown but when i arrived after my 6 hour drive told me they were back on lockdown. I miss him like crazy and need to see his face. Do you know how long reception usually lasts?? Thanks:confused: :p

Dear Gwyn, My son has been in reception since December 19th. I also have to wonder when he might get out of it. I am not sure I want to rush that though since he could be moved anyplace in the state if he is moved. Since my son is in reception I have to make appointments to see him. You can't just show up as you can with some units. Calling for an appointment is very difficult and you can only call between 8 AND 10 am some mornings. I have had two appointments but NO visits because he is on lockdown when it is time for the visit. I have about a 1 hour drive to SQ so I call the hotline number first to listen to the recording that tells you what units are on lockdown before I would drive out there. To hear lockdown status you can call the main number at 415-454-1460 and then enter any of these extensions to hear the recording...let it ring until the recording comes on 5811,5812,5813. I was told by the officer who answered the other day that they usually change lockdown status in the afternoon and he will try to get it updated on the recording before he leaves at the end of the day but if not he will update it when he comes in after 7 Am when he gets a chance. My next appointment to visit is Sunday but right now reception is on lockdown so we will have to see. Nancy
Calla~Lillys 02-12-2006, 08:02 AM Dear Gwyn, My son has been in reception since December 19th. Nancy
Nanc, I am so glad you finally got an appt.....I will pray that they wont be on lock down so you can see your son.
:p

anastassijimine 02-25-2006, 03:31 AM Are family members allowed to visit at San Quinten? Someone told me that there are no visitations allowed there. My hasband is in process of being transported there from jail and I want to go see him with my son. Please, anyone tell me if it is possible and allowed and what I got to do in order to make it happen

Yes, visitation is allowed at SQ. If your husband will be in Reception, they are non contact visits, once he is transferred to a regular cell block, for example East Block, he will be allowed contact visits. Write to your hubby and ask him to send you a visitation form asap! Send it back as soon as you get it filled out....it only took me three weeks to get approved and I live on the east coast.
This is the address you should use to write to your hubby:
San Quentin State Prison
inmate name, CDC #
San Quentin, CA
94974
Hope this helps and good luck hun!
LeBeau 02-26-2006, 12:41 PM Whoops, sorry, TulipGirl...I posted before I saw you'd already answered...
Visits ARE usually allowed during reception but it's behind glass and you'll need first to be approved. Tell him that the first thing he should do when he gets to SQ is send you a copy of CDC106, the visitors application questionaire, he needs to sign it before he sends it to you. Fill it out COMPLETELY, Lt. Kramer is a good sort but wants complete honesty on that form.

Sally bo bally 04-26-2006, 04:53 AM Hi
My name is Sally and I have a friend, Joseph, at San Quentin. I have been writing to him since April 2005. I'm from the UK so it would be great to chat to other Brits and to find out more about posting regulations. I want to send Joseph books and music but I'm not sure how it works over here!

Hello and Welcome, It is my understanding that your loved one has to send you an original form from the prison. Thats what I have read anyway. Tell him as soon as he arrives to obtain the form, sign it and send it to you as quickly as possible. Hope this helps!

nitamac 05-24-2006, 12:08 PM Hello, I just found out today they have decided which prison they are going to send my son to. They won't tell me which one or when he well go. They assured me that they keep the inmates as close to home as possible is this true? His counselor told him they could send him as far south to some prison by the mexico boarder.
nitamac 05-24-2006, 12:15 PM If I already posted this message please forgive me.
I called San Quentin this morning to talk to my sons
counselor but he doesn't have a extention so i spoke with his superviser
She said that my son has assigned to go to another prison most likely next week
she said they try to keep inmates close to where there family lives is this true?
His counselor told him they could send him as far south as to prison by the mexican border well that happen?

sickandsad 06-18-2006, 01:09 AM My name is Wendy. My husband has only been in San Quentin for about 3 weeks. He's in the reception area and just waiting to see a counselor and to be sent to whatever prison they decide to send him to. He got a 25 year sentance. I've received several letters from him and he's started to receive mine. At this point those are the only communitcation we have. I'm still waiting for my visiting approval. Hopefully I'll see him soon. I miss him more than words can say.

Loud, noisy, stinky, disgusting, gross etc.. the list is endless. If anyone needs
help with Reception for parole violators at San Quentin I can help.

rayjay 07-01-2006, 07:24 PM Hello,
My name is Jay. This is my first experience with loving an incarcerated person. My guy is on D/R at San Quentin. I am too happy to have found this website. I have very little support on the "outside" so it's good to know that there is support out there :grouphug:
Thanks,
Jay
hisfriend 07-03-2006, 06:28 AM I have a friend who has spent several years in SQ. He has been recommended for parole. He has not been released yet. . . what is going on with the prison system in California? He's a "lifer", has been in the system since the early 80's. I am worried for him.
sadheart 07-04-2006, 01:19 AM Our best friend was accused by his ex wife and subsequently took a plea bargain under pressure from his brain dead lawyer. Unfortunatley the plea was not what he thought. Don't ever admit to something you didn't do!!!! Anyway, this is our first experience with a loved one in the system and we are heartbroken. We have lost our best friend for several years.
God watch over him!!
sharonno1 07-04-2006, 03:33 AM welcome everybody to pto
SQRedemption 07-18-2006, 12:20 PM Hi Everyone,
My father is at San Quentin... and has been there for awhile... he's active in the Vietnam Veterans Group, Protestant Bible Study, and Choir.
Its difficult to visit him when I live 6 hours away, but my sister just moved up to the Fremont area. Sadly she doesn't have a car, I noticed she posted something in the ride share area (but no replys yet).
I try to come up every 2 months... maybe I'll meet some of you in line one of these days. :)
pleyden 07-21-2006, 05:30 PM :( Well I'm back...I'm Pam, and I used to post to the Deul vocational forum, but he got out, and went back (hum...).... my loved one is in San Quentin now... just left reception but is in the hole and will be there to ride out his violation which should be done in December. But he has a hearing August 1st at Colusa for new charges.
Kcnme2 07-21-2006, 08:09 PM My friend is in SQ reception. He was sentenced to 6 years 4 months. He has been there for 2 months and we are hoping that he will be moved soon. He will not allow me to come see him there. He says it is not a nice place and that I do not need to see him in that capacity
loveisdeeper 07-21-2006, 09:06 PM My boyfriend is in for a violation of parole. For leaving the county without a pass and getting cought. (This system is so STUPID!) He was in High Desert State Prison for Reception. Then went to Susanville for his remaining time. And is sent back here to San Quentin, he was sentenced 10 months with half time so thats 5 months. He might do all his time here or will be moved to Pulacan Bay, or back to Susanville. I recived my visiting applaction yesterday and filled it out and sent it back today. So with in 2 months or less I'll be able to visit him.
Jaydee7 07-27-2006, 12:21 AM my dad is bein transferred to SQ in a week. Just read about visitation being approved...it takes 4-8 weeks! wrote him and told him. does anyone know of a website that you can send packages to them? I know he cant get anything for 30 days except letters. any help and links would be much obliged.:):)
AngelRose 08-12-2006, 03:10 PM My husbands cousin is in San Quentin. Im looking forward to a visit with him soon
LadyDamu415 08-17-2006, 12:32 PM Hey ladies!! I just wanted to say good morning to the San Quentin ladies. How is everyone doing? Well, I am counting down and I am so excited!! My baby has been down 8 years and I know he is ready to be home with his wife and son. I was just wondering how all visits every weekend like me....I know I am not the only one, heyI may be walking right past you in the visiting room and don't know it
sadheart 08-18-2006, 04:42 PM We haven't visited our friend yet, but I just wanted to say congrats on the countdown! Best wishes to you all

dointime2 08-25-2006, 01:59 AM Well my guy is now in San Quentin, west block. It is weird, I can feel his state of mind in the letter I just recieved. It's not a happy one, hopefully they will get him on mainline soon. I read the stats on reception at cdc.ca.gov, and the reception is made for 1400+ and there are 3300 people there, can you imagine?? Maybe he will be released early as he is only doing five months, and it is only for a violation... what do you think?? anyone have an idea on how that works? I hope you all are hanging in there, and remember to keep your head up no matter what....
Take Care,
Dointime2
mahmah 10-19-2006, 11:55 AM My son is in SQ reception. I just received the Visitor Approval Notice. I was just wondering how often does lockdown happens there. I live 150 miles away and would like to know if there's any way to find out if I can visit before starting out? How long is each visit? Any info will be much appreciated.
SQRedemption 10-19-2006, 02:53 PM I'd call San Quentin first (415) 454-1460 and check ... visits are as long as you get there (for main line) between visiting hours. I know how you feel, I live 345 miles away.

SingingSuze 11-06-2006, 12:25 AM Hi there, I am brand new to PTO. My boyfriend was just transfered to
San Quentin for a parole violation. He is in the Reception Center as far as
I know. He's waiting to hear how much extra time he will have to spend for
the violation.
Anyone out there who can tell me more about what he can expect during
his wait. Can he make phone calls out?
Thanks for the help.

Hi my name is Shari and I am new here. My bf was transfered to Quentin for a parole violation. He is in Recp. and says he will be there for the whole time he is there. He was already told that he was given 9 months so with half time I am looking at seeing him right around my birthday. That will be the best present ever.

Boo'sBaby 03-02-2007, 06:55 PM Hi everyone. My name is Lyndia and my husband is in reception at SQ. He's serving a 19 year sentence (of which he has already done 4 years in county) He too says it is a disgusting, filthy, hateful place and I don't doubt it. I have been able to send him magazines and newspapers. I would love to visit him, but can never seem to get through to make an appointment! Anyway, nice to meet you all.:)
PBslilsister 03-03-2007, 06:47 PM FYI The National Geographic Channel is running a program called San Quentin Unlocked. It's a documentary told from the perspective of the employees.

marthab650 07-10-2007, 02:02 PM Hi everyone, I'm Martha. My fiancee is on death row at San Quentin State Prison.
This is my 2nd dr relationship. The other one was with a very popular dr inmate who many think he is hot. LOL He is and he is sweet but that wasn't for me. I don't like to share. Luckily I met my new man and we've been together 5 years. I finally know true love. Since my divorce I can only date men in prison it seems. LOL whatever but I'm happy now.
I'll be marrying him at the end of the year. Anyway I am here for support, and to help with what I can regarding info. I've been around the prison situation since 1999. I've been through lots of ups and downs. So I think I can be helpful.
You are welcome to PM me for anything. I'm just here to help.
Mitch67 07-17-2007, 08:44 AM I just joined PTO today after lurking about for a few months.
My guy is on San Quentin DR. He has been there for about fifteen years and we have been together for two. Not sure what the future holds only that he has to be in mine.
I probably know some stuff and need to know a whole lot more so no doubt I will have some questions but you can always ask me anything and if I can help I will.
It's great to be here and thank you to you all for being there.
Page75 09-09-2007, 07:18 PM I am new to all this, like many of you. This is also my boyfriend's first time in prison. He will be going into reception at San Quentin in about a week. I have known him for about 32 years, we've been together about 3 and he did his crime about 5 years ago, white collar crime. I am amazed at the strength and loyalty that so many of you women have. I've learned a lot from you just reading many of your postings. I'm glad this site exists because there is so much fear in not knowing what he will be up against and how our relationship will survive. I appreciate all your comments and the knowledge you have provided to me about SQ and the system.

mrspalma 11-12-2007, 02:40 PM Hi to everybody on this thread. I'm actually only on here to browse for some info, but I thought it rude to read over all this and not stop to say hello.
My name is Dee, my husband and I were recently married 9/22/07. He is in SQ but only finishing time on a violation and comes home after Christmas. I sympathize & feel for all your stories, DR wives, gf's, family, friends, supporters & inmates. We all have a story, lets not judge or try and cast stones.
God Bless,
Mrs. Palma
Redgrasshopper 11-27-2007, 11:35 PM Hi, I'm brand new to this with a twist most of you haven't encountered. Or, if you have, it's probably a rarity. My name is Therese. My partner is in San Quentin on a parole violation. I have no idea how that system works. I am trying to gain as much knowledge as I can so I can make informed and educated decisions on how these next few months, possibly year, are going to be for us. I realize some of you may be unwilling to assist me, but above all else, I am a woman, and I do happen to love someone who is now at San Quentin.

Caresgirl 12-28-2007, 11:45 AM Hi my Fiance is now back in SQ. He was there last year for a short time on a violation and i was able to see him while he was in reception. He was sent there several weeks ago from county where he was for 5 months. Does anyone know how long Reception is gonna take? We dont know where they will send him for mainline he will be out in 2010 and I am so depressed about it. I am trying to take in one day at a time but somedays the pain I feel overwhelming. This forum has helped me a lot and I am grateful there is somewhere to go where people understand and can relate to our situation.

mrspalma 12-28-2007, 03:49 PM Hi friends, does anyone know the time that you need to be at San Quentin in order to pick up your loved one? Is it 5AM or 6AM? or 7AM maybe?
Thanks,
Dee
Nancbee4 01-21-2008, 07:07 PM To Caresgirl, It's hard to say how long reception takes. My son has just arrived in San Quentin reception for the 2nd time. The first time, 2005, he was in reception almost 3 months to the day before he was transfered to Soledad and mainlined. While he was there he had a cell mate who came after him and was mainlined BEFORE him. I also met another mom on PTO who's son was in SQ reception as well. He son stayed in reception for 6 months. However, he son was determined to be a level one and was accepted for fire camp and they seemed to be waiting to send him when another training session was going to begin. My son has another friend who was in reception there for over 4 months. I think it depends on whether the county gets their paperwork sent over quickly or not. Also, I happened to call his counselor for information twice so that might or might not have made a difference. My son also kept putting in requests to see his counselor as well. He was asked what prisons he would like to mainline too and he choose Solano, DVI and San Quentin. When he was mainlined he was moved very suddenly with no warning at 3:30 AM and driven to Soledad. So much for putting in a request. Your loved ones should be able to tell you if they have been to see their counselors yet or not and what the counselor might have thought about their future placement. Good luck.
Trying2BPatient 02-04-2008, 12:55 AM Hi there,
I posted a more detailed intro on the California Intro forum.
My guy is going to be in SQ for only a couple of months (hopefully!) but I have questions and am looking forward to hearing from folks who have experience directly with SQ.
Confused08 02-19-2008, 10:21 PM My boyfriend is in SQ, keeps getting parole violations, he had only been out for 1 month after doing 11 months at Delano, he had a special condition, not to drink, guess what he had been drinking so now he is back there. This is very nerve racking for me.
ahustlaswife1 02-20-2008, 02:01 AM  Greetings all, Thanks to PTO for such great support and info. My husband just got to West Block Jan 28th. How soon will he be able to call home. What can he have(books, magazines, etc.)? How long does it take for him to get a letter? is it true express mail will reach him faster? Please help, any info on San Quentin is welcomed.
BuddysJewel 03-13-2008, 02:41 AM Hi, I'm Sapphire. My Husband just got transferred to SQ from County Jail on 2/29/08. He's been in county before but this is the 1st time (And hopefully the last time) in state prison. I started viewing PTO as a guest a few months ago and decided to join once he was transferred to SQ. I have already found great support and comfort here.
panda1218 03-30-2008, 03:01 PM Thank you for this site. I have been reading for the last few months while my husband has been waiting transfer from county. Now that he is at s.q I registered. It is comforting to read posts from other who are dealing with the same questions. My husband has been out of s.q for about 7 years but is back again transfered on march 17, 08. Now I wait to hear when his release date will be most likely sometime in jan. or feb. 09
Keeley_quinn 04-05-2008, 08:12 PM This inmate is 64 yrs and on DR and I am about to write to him a first letter. I am not sure if he is still there, though. How would I find out for sure? I am happy to find this SQSTP Cal Topic & Discussion thread. I am a pp for a few long term inmates. I have found other SQ DR-inmate-names, and am wondering if it is a good move to write to more then one DR-inmate in SQ or better to just pick one to be pp? Please PM me to inbox. Thx  ~Keeley
augusta 04-09-2008, 05:51 PM Just heard from my friend in East Block that they are having a clean up i.e.killing all the rats and mice.Sadly as a consequence of this dozens of birds are being poisoned and are being collected in sack sby the c.o.s.

He is a friend and that is all.

Danalia 05-28-2008, 05:00 PM Hi all,
Already intro-ed myself elsewhere on the forum but thought it only polite to do so, briefly, here.
I write to a friend on DR and I had no idea how much of a rollercoaster this experience would be (he's my first ever pp). I've been through more emotions in the last few months than most people do in a year! However, I wouldn't exchange it, or him, for the world and I am so glad and extremely grateful to have found this forum and all the wonderful, supportive, informative people here.
Danalia :)
mtillman70 05-30-2008, 02:52 PM Hey all new to the experience, I was going to ask alot of questions but after reading everyone's reply , I think I got an idea. My man is still in county about to be transferred to S.Q in about a week (june 2nd) to the reception area, hopefully I'll get to see him before they transfer him again to I don't know where??!@? He's been there before, and he's trying to be helpful to me knowing I've never been with anyone in the system before, I miss him like crazy it's only been gone 3months but he's going to be gone 3yrs. Already I'm buggin because I don't know what to expect fully, It really didnt hit me until the Judge said 3yrs in Quinten state, I know I'm being a baby especially after reading some of the reply's on here where your loved ones have 5,10,and up. Anyway glad to be here.
Signed serious Love Jones
bb sue 05-30-2008, 04:36 PM Hey...
Name's Sue, my brother just mainlined at SQ, took all of a few months, but it was good to finally hear his voice the other day, and hear his spirits are up now that the reception BS and wait is over. On top of it all, he only got stung with a nickle (not the deuce the DA was hoping for... grrr...) so he'll be out sooner rather than later.
Anyway, thanks y'all for being here... what a long strange trip this has been so far...
Sus
dontime 06-02-2008, 09:37 PM hello again, this is my fourth time now, and yes my son is in again. Don't know for how long this time but I guess as usual I will find out. I'd like to say glad to be back but I'm not and I never left just didn't come here every day for a few months. 4 months out this time which beats 4 days out last time. Guess that is an improvement though
mtillman70 06-03-2008, 12:14 PM Hello to everyone new to the forum. My honey was transferred there on Monday June 2nd. what do I expect to happen the next 2yrs. One thing I did find out was he probably wont be in S.Q long he's being transferred again. I just hope I can see him before that happens, I hear visiting passes take over a month
