I have a pal in a Michigan prison..I would love to chat with him but not sure if the prison allows calls to Canada?
Does anyone know info on this subject?

The calls are different depending on location... Hopefully one of our other Candiam members can come along and tell you about how much. Its expensive for sure! You can find out the rate the first time they call you also.... there's an option to find out the rates at the beginning of the call.

If he's going to call regularly, you may want to check out Tele-net in our Phones Forum. Again, members who use Tele-net can clue you in as to prices. Currently I don't use Telenet because my husband is close to home and we already have "cheap" rates.

my guy is in Arizona and yes they can make calls to canada, they used the same process for approving me as they do others and I have just moved and the prison called and talked to me to have me approve the new number for his list. Canada is close enough that they consider it the same thing. Costs are higher though Michigan is not to far so it should not be too much. it is about 30 dollars for 15 min USD for my az calls. arri

if your in canada and use bell canada sign on for their first rate overseas long distance plan, my AZ calls are now cheaper then when he calls in his state, it is under 13 dollars for a 15 min call and cheaper after 6 pm lol

i get my calls from Florida and its $13.75 for a 15 min call...doesnt matter what time he calls

I live in London Ontario and called the bell here to find out more about this..
I was told that this is not for collect calls.. that he will pay what ever the prison charges..My bill will actual be more expensive.. If I were to call him then yes I get a discount, but not if he calls me collect..

that is weird as I have the phone bill to prove that I get it discounted and it even says collect call
the plan is made to allow you to use long distance internationally like you are calling from your home. as usual the bell rep does not know what they are talking of as I have the past 6 months worth of bills to shpw my discount lol
they also bill as tho from the city they are at and not say prison call like the us carriers bill it as ,, the bell lady had no idea what i was talking about when I asked her about all my prison calls lol
