I was just wondering if there was anyone that has a loved one currently in Florence, East Unit? I was just wondering what we can and can not send in the mail.....Does all their mail get read before they can give it to them? Can we send dirty letters? What is the limit on sending pictures? Is there a limit to how many pages a letter can be?
I just wanna know so that I dont send a long long letter, that may get read, and them not like it and send it back.....I have not heard from my baby in almost a week, and he always writes. SO im just worried that he is not writing me, cuz he thinks that I have not written him......when in fact I have sent 3 letters already......Im just not sure if he actually got them or not....
Also......About visitation.......Why did people always tell me that visitation is usually all day long, then I find out that you can only visit for about 4 hours? Is this true? What do they wear when we go visit them? What is visitation like there?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

Of course you can send in the mail. But maybe you put on the wrong inmate number. Check it on the homepage of the prison... all inmates with numbers are listed there. Then you have to put on your address too on the outside of the envelope. They won't get anonymous letters. Well, the ltters are opened before the inmates get them and checked for contraband.
Sometimes they read it, but just brows through it if they find any escape plans or stuff like this. Normally they don't read the letters if the inmate has no disciplinaries.
The limit is there I guess, but this would be about 20 pages or so. YOu also can send Internet prints or pics. Dirty letters, or pics, no problem. Just others would see those too.
The inmate gets the letters normally in the evening.

Visitation for people who are not from the state are 3 days with 4 hours. These four hours have a lunch break.
You have to be on the visiting list of the inmate. So tell him and he can tell the prison to send you the papers.
The Arizona prison number is: 520- 868-8520 there you can ask about visits.
They send you instructions what to wear and not to wear and stuff. The rules are pretty strict.
If your friend doesn't answer, well there might be a reason. I had this too once. Sometimes they bring them to the county jail for another investigation and then they have no money funds transferred and are notallowed to take envelopes or stamps with them. So then you will hear from him when he is back - can be 1 -2 months.
Don't worry, he will be right back.

Hope this helped

Joeysgirl, I have a good friend in the East Unit! Their mail does get read, and I'm gonna warn you now, I've had some bad experiences with pictures getting stolen from my mail, and my mail not being delivered. PLEASE when you send something important, send it registered mail! I am having issues with our mail currently, but what do you do? When he sends you an application for visitation, he should be able to also send you a calendar and the rules for dress ok? I haven't visited yet, but plan to this summer!

I have a penpal in the East Unit. I sent him a homemade Valentine's card and he actually got it. I used glue and I was worried that he wouldn't. So far our letters seem to get delivered to each other.
