:fb: Hello,,, anyone got information on transfering of parole to another country?

We still have 4 years left, but do not want to parole to Ca ... We applied for a transfer to Canada for hubby to finish out sentence and Canada approved it, but the Board of Prison Terms here in CA promptly denied it because Canadian Law would have released him sooner than his California sentence... Any way, I am certain that Canada will accept him for parole since they already accepted him to come up there and finish his sentence. How long before he is released do we need to start pursuing this transfer of parole request. ? Do we do it through California or Canada first? We would appreciate any help you can give us.... We have family and a new life ahead in Canada and there is no chance for us in CA.... thank you for any help.. Jeanette

While I have no information to help you, Jeanette, I am interested in how you had Canada approve a transfer. I was under the impression this wasn't possible so Daniel and I were resigned to waiting till his maximum expiration date before he'd be illegible to come to Canada. Mind you, that's as long as his visa gets approved because Canada doesn't accept convicted felons.

Gilly, My husband is a Canadian citizen and we contacted the Canadian Consulate in Los Angeles for the application for transfer through the foreign prisoner transfer treaty program. His family is up there and after 2 long years, Canada approved his transfer to the Canadian Correctional Service to finish his sentence up there. But, then the US also had to approve the transfer. The Board of Prison Terms would NOT let him transfer because the Canadian Law for the exact same charges would have let him out early in Sept of 2001. He has to stay in the US until 2006 now to finish out his sentence. Is your husband a Canadian citizen??? If not, then you probably would not be able to get the application approved. Where is he??? How much time does he have left?... Now I just want to find out about him paroling directly up there upon his release here... I am so angry at the US about this. keep in touch, jeanette

My boyfriend is from canada and is now at cmc west in california, we have applied for the treaty transfer. Until now i thought for sure he'd be back home in 1 yr or so. I really thought that it was realistic. So if he got 5 yrs when will he be able to get transfered to canada? could use the help thanks.
