Thanks FedEx for this 'Aussie Forum'. (Good one, Kyla)
Let's all introduce ourselves.
My name is Kerrie, I am in Sydney. I have a dear friend in Texas (Polunsky Unit). Lonnie and I have been writing for a few years now, and it's not always easy...he is on death row. However, here at PTO I have found others in the same situation who understand how it is, and don't think I am crazy!
I look forward to getting to know my fellow Aussies.
Soooo, say gidday!

Hey Kez
Its good isnt it. Spread the news.
Let me tell you about me
I am Kyla, and I am from Queensland, but originally a Sydney girl. My husband moved here from the US and ended up in corrections here, and is going to trial in 2 weeks. I know that this forum will be able to help all of us in Australia, for support, no matter where our loved ones are at.

G'day,

I won't use the introduction thread as I'm not in Oz but, from time to time, I'd like to drop in. Although I'm at home in England now, I did live for 12 years in Brisbane so I feel as if part of me is still there. My man, as I'm sure some of you know, is in Illinois and we're hoping he won't be there too much longer. As I said, I hope you won't mind if I drop in.

Well, thank you Kyla for your kind words.

ozibelle, I lived in South Brisbane, Hill End, right near the river and behind what is now the Queensland Ballet building. I was back there 2 years ago visiting freinds and couldn't believe how Brisbane has changed. It's grown up and become very sophisticated. I also spent a couple of weeks at Surfers and had a couple days riging up into the mountains on the back of a Harley, now that was the highlight of my holiday!!

Next time you visit, you will have to come up to Hervey Bay so we can meet. Have you been here? I may be in the US by then, but if not, I would love to meet you. We are about 3 hours out of Brisbane. Its great to hear someone know what they are talking about in Brisbane, I have no idea. :( I had to find Eagle Street one day, and ended up getting a parking ticket looking at the road map. Well I didnt, I put the trunk up in the car, pretended I had overheated, and I was like really pregnant with my son, and had 2 screaming kids in the car. He was nice. I told him I was waiting for the RACQ to come, lol. Hervey Bay, I probably would of ended up having a baby in prison. You know more about Brisbane than me, I just learnt it was easy to lie there.

Well, Kyla, now the only place I visit is the US to see Tony but, once he's out, and he will be, as I expect you know, we hope to travel, as long as he can get into other countries just for a holiday. He'd love to meet my friends in Qld and, if that's not too far away, and you're still there, we'll come to see you. I never got as far up as Hervey Bay. Went inland a lot and further south but not too far up the coast from Brissie.

Rose, I know Hill End. I used to live in the next suburb....Highgate Hill. Everything is a hill in Brisbane.....Red Hill, Spring Hill etc. Know Surfers well too. It's a mad house down there! A Harley? lucky you! Years ago, I went around Australia on my motor bike. Loved every minute of it. And as Kyla said, next time your out here (hopefully with your man) give us a yell.

Kyla, I went up to Hervey Bay last year.....went whale watching, but the weather was bad. Didn't see any whales, spent my time being seasick. I get seasick looking at water LOL Didn't make it to Fraser Island either.

Ozi
we had shocking weather here last year, and this year we have our lovely heatwave, and I know you guys are feeling it to in Brisbane.
I had a friend up here last year whale watching, he was fortunate to get out at 5am, and get a glimpse. Whale season was shocking last year, with the weather. They are expecting more whales this year,
Dont worry, I get seasick to, and I have lived here for nearly 3 years, and never been on Fraser. I am planning on going, but I want to go where the aboriginal communities live there, not Kingfisher Resort. I hear 4 wheel driving is good over there to. I can see Fraser Island from where I live, and thats as much as I have seen of it.

I'm not Australian, never went to Australia, but a friend of mine emigrated there and lives in Bondi Beach does that count ?? :D

Anyway, I just popped in to say hi from "the old continent", and wish this new forum and its wonderful members good luck for the future. :)

Hi all, finally found the forum. Many thanks kezcat for the directions. I am an ex-prisoner currently on parole in northern NSW. My last stint was 10 with a 3 for bank robbery in Brisbane but I did 4 before they decided to parole me south of the border. Prior to that I did 11 for bank robberies and escapes 1969-1980 in NSW with a couple 'fit-ups' (wrongful imprisonments) in between. I studied journalism in prison and made a quantum leap by swapping my criminal cv for a freelance journalist role. Have been widely published in newspapers, mags and online at www.onlineopinion.com.au at the law and liberty links. I am currently doing a series of articles about Marc Renton who has been wrongfully imprisoned for armed robbery in Qld based on the use of flawed DNA evidence. I first raised his case at www.onlineopinion.com.au 'Marc Renton - another DNA mistake? Qld government must reopen the case' on 5 February 2003. I have just completed another feature article on his case 'DNA and the justice game' published in The Griffith Review - Making Perfect Bodies winter edition 2004 available from Griffith University or ABC bookshops after 4 June 2004. Hope this intro will suffice. cheers from oz ex-prisoner.
