my husband has a 25 to life and he is at the bay in shu. when he caught his case (while in prison) i was so mad i just ran away from it for years meaning i never really found out why, how , and all the other questions that goes with it . i still dont know what happened and i feel it's time i did. he wont or(cant) tell me because of the appeal thing and i admit i am pretty dumb at any legal stuff. he has been in for almost 15 years. can i still get his court records or look at them being its that old? and i also have tried to find old newspaper stories but i have had no luck there either.
any suggestions? should i hire someone who knows hows to find all the info i am looking for? another thing its about this shu thing too i need some answers

Hi Kim, Does he have a lawyer, if so maybe you could find out from him. Since your his wife i would think you could still see the records??? Hope you can find what your looking for. Good luck Kim

If the trip to the SHU was over a case he caught inside, there is a very good chance that he plead to case and therefore the record you might find would be mighty thin..
Docket sheet with, Indictment, arraignment, hearing or two on stuff maybe, then Entry of Plea and Final Sentence order may be what you find at the county courthouse.

Has he given you some indication that he took that second case to trial?

You can also request copies of the court transcripts or documents. It is public information and anyone who is willing to pay for the copies can request them. It would be helpful if you had his case # but if not tell the court clerk his full name and see what she can come up with. I emailed the clerk from the county my man fell in and she emailed a list of documents I could have and told quoted a price. I sent a check along with a prepaid envelope and within a week I had all that I wanted. Good luck!
