I thought that everyone would want to see the regulation from the Title 15
that lists the specific criteria that prohibit many inmates from receiving family
visits. As you can see, there are many restrictions in addition to lifers.

Family Visiting is currently only allowed for those inmates that meet the criteria set forth in Title 15, Section_ §3174:
_(1) Family visits shall not be permitted for inmates convicted of a violent offense involving a minor or family member or any sex offense, which includes but is not limited to the following Penal Code Sections: 187 (when the victim is a family member or minor); 192 (when the victim is a family member or minor); 261; 261.5, 262; 264.1; 266c; 266j; 273a; 273d; 273.5; 273.6; 285; 286; 288; 288a; 288.2; 288.5; 289; 289.5; 311.1; 311.2; 311.3; 311.4; 313.1; 314; or 647.6.
_
_ (2) Family visits shall not be permitted for inmates who are in any of the following categories: sentenced to life without the possibility of parole; sentenced to life, without a parole date established by the Board of Prison Terms; designated Close A or Close B custody; designated a condemned inmate; assigned to a reception center; assigned to an administrative segregation unit; assigned to a security housing unit; designated "C" status; guilty of one or more Division A or Division B offenses within the last twelve months; or guilty of narcotics trafficking while incarcerated in a state prison.

Family visits are also very hard for even the normal prisoner to get, let alone keep, as it's the first thing they take away, when you get in to trouble. They want to close them down because alot of dope comes in from family visits. -------Ken

When we were recieving family visits, it made the time easier.
We always had something short term to look forward to. The
most frustrating thing about the regulation is that we didn't do
anything wrong to have them taken away. We did everything
they asked of us. My husband never got in trouble and I NEVER
brought drugs in. (Not that we do them anyway!) We were just
simply punished again for my husband's crime. It would have
been more fair if they had taken them away from anyone coming
in from 11/1/96 on. But, of course, the CDC can never be fair!!! :(

Sonny and I will not get visits for 4 years if then because of his "points". When he found out he asked if I still wanted to marry him! Silly boy! If I was just marrying him for sex, I would look somewhere else! But it sure would be nice to see what he looks like (feels like? lol) under those blues!!

I know they have Family visits at Folsom. If your husband is going to New Folsom (CSP-SAC) there is only trailers on 2 yards. "A" yard's trailer is now offices.
